Digital Safety Starts with One Extra Step A password alone may not be enough to protect you from online harassment, blackmail, account takeovers, or sextortion threats. Multi-Factor Authentication, also called MFA, adds a second lock to your account. This means that even if someone gets your password, they still need another code or approval before they can access your email, messages, photos, documents, or evidence. What to do today: Turn on MFA for your email, social media accounts, cloud storage, banking apps, and any platform where you keep important conversations or documents. Use an authenticator app where possible. SMS verification is better than having no extra protection, but an authenticator app is usually safer. If you are facing digital threats, you are not alone. Reach out for survivor-centred support. HerStoryOurStory Hotline: 080642922526 #DigitalSafeguarding #TechJustice #OnlineSafety #SextortionAwareness #HerStoryOurStoryNG

Have you ever wondered who the perpetrators of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) are? Data shows that while men are the primary perpetrators, anyone, men or women, can perpetrate TFGBV. Globally, men account for 28.8% perpetrators, while women make up 26%. Also, perpetrators donโ€™t just target their victims; their intentions vary. Each act of TFGBV may be driven by a desire to cause psychological harm, physical harm, intimidation, humiliation, or to exert control over the victim. #NoExcuse #16DaysOfActivism2025 #UNiTE2025 #EndGBV #EndDigitalViolence @RoLACng @TechSocietal @TechHer @EUinNigeria @HerStoryOSNG @FMOJ @NAPTIP @NCC @NITDA @NDPC @NhrcNigeria @Meta @DigitalRightsPK

When someone tells you theyโ€™re experiencing online abuse, your first job isnโ€™t to investigate โ€” itโ€™s to believe and support them. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿงก Offer a listening ear, stand with them publicly if itโ€™s safe to do so, and affirm that TFGBV is real, valid and harmful. Your response can be the difference between silence and healing. #DigitalAction #EndDigitalViolence #16DaysOfActivism #HerStoryOurStoryNG

Online gender based violence affects how women express themselves, share ideas, and participate in digital spaces. When harassment, intimidation, or targeting happens simply because she is a woman, it becomes a serious barrier to safety and confidence. Todayโ€™s message reinforces the need for awareness, digital responsibility, and stronger protection for women and girls online. #16DaysOfActivism #OnlineGBV #StopDigitalAbuse #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #ProtectWomenOnline #OnlineSafetyForGirls #DigitalRightsMatter #SafeDigitalSpaces @RoLACNG @EUinNigeria @TechSocietal

Digital violence against women and girls is growing in scale and becoming more complicated, turning online spaces into places of fear rather than freedom. Many women and girls say they are being targeted through hacking and cyberstalking, exposing them to attacks on their privacy, security, and dignity. They also face astroturfing, where fake accounts and coordinated posts create a false sense of public opinion to discredit, intimidate, or silence them. These tactics are intentional, harmful, and rooted in gender bias. Recognising them is the first step. Challenging them is the next. #EndDigitalViolence #NoExcuse #16DaysOfActivism2025 #UNiTE2025 #EndGBV #OnlineGBV #EndOnlineAbuse #DigitalHarassment #OnlineImpersonation

Every day, people are stalked, intimidated, threatened, shamed and silenced through their phones, social media and messaging apps๐Ÿ’” Screenshots become weapons, group chats turn into mob attacks, and a single post can unleash waves of abuse. This is a huge problem in Nigeria and something must be done about it. Peer Privacy Invasion is dangerous and leads to mental health problems. Our children should be taught about the dangers and steps to protect themselves.
Across Nigeria, a silent epidemic is spreading โ€” not in the streets, but in our chats, and on social media timelines. Image-based sexual abuse (IBSA) is pulling women and girls into a nightmare they never chose. From leaked intimate images to blackmail, digital threats, and public humiliation, survivors are left dealing with shame, fear, and isolation โ€” often with nowhere to turn. This documentary uncovers the human stories behind the headlines: how abusers weaponize trust, how quickly images spread, why victims struggle to seek help, and how deeply our culture, stigma, and weak systems worsen the harm. Image-based sexual abuse is not a โ€œmistake.โ€ It is online harm, and it demands action. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Watch the full documentary here: youtube.com/watch?v=kkiIBP2Rโ€ฆ #16Days #EndTFGBV #WRONetwork #OrangeTheWorld #EndViolence #NoExcuse @HerStoryOSNG @DigitalActionCo @PollicyOrg @Lagosdsva
