Black Sails and other Poetry
Black Sails
Fires burn while the rabbit sleeps
Outcasts yearn and prophets preach
The Truth dangles just out of reach
Tribesman grin through gritted teeth
Black fields, brash men overreach
Black entrails, Not sure what we teach
Black army, bolts into the breach
Black banners, frail beyond belief
Every base x number system is in base 10 if you count by that system.
For instance, base 6:
6 in base 6 is 10, so from the perspective of base 6, it's base 10.

Milton Friedman explains why liberty must come before equality:
“A society that aims for equality before liberty will end up with neither equality nor liberty.”
“A society that aims first for liberty will not end up with equality, but it will end up with a closer approach to equality than any other kind of system that has ever been developed.”
“You can only aim at equality by giving some people the right to take things from others. What ultimately happens when you aim for equality is that A and B decide what C should do for D, except that they take a little bit of commission off on the way.”

@grok Are the Good or Pretti shootings worth investigating?
If this case sets a precedent for the gov't weaponizing federal agencies and being unaccountable for citizens killed during operations, is that good or bad?
Should I casually support the gov't killing US citizens if they disagree with me about politics?
I guess everyone's going to pretend that the Republicans could have held onto congress forever despite history demonstrating power fluctuating back and forth between the left and right every few years.

Yes, also called the hero's journey.
It relates to people who, in real life, overcome their circumstances and undergo transformation as a result. Everyone can feel a connection to this idea.
It's why butterfly and moth tattoos are common. Symbols of transformation and freedom.
An example would be the show Locked Up Abroad or Banged Up Abroad.
Most of the stories are about people who decided to smuggle drugs. They are typically a person who's life has no direction. They are drifting, in need of money, or just kind of immature and naive.
Then they get locked up. They go through hell, they scream and cry and curse and see all manner of terrible things in there. Then one day they decide to transcend their circumstances. They read books, form a defense, escape from prison. They become what they need to become to overcome their obstacles.
Then once out of prison they generally improve their lives and have a different outlook on hardship bc almost everything is easy compared to what they've already been through.
Hero's journey. They travel into the unknown, discover who they are, return with power. That's the jist.
Guide to the Partisan NPC mentality.
If both parties were red and blue boxes, respectively, both boxes would contain hypocrisy.
Women make up roughly half the population but only about 8% of workplace fatalities.
Girl boss politics seeks to correct that imbalance.
Why the minimum wage should be low:
Many business have low margins that can't afford to pay higher labor costs. That means the burden of paying higher worker wages is often mostly or completely passed onto the consumer through higher prices.
Consider for a moment that you are the owner of a restaurant. You have 8 workers that make $10 each, so labor cost is $80 an hour. Then the min wage goes up to $15 an hour. With 8 workers your labor cost is now $120 an hour.
You can't afford to absorb that much cost, so you'll have to raise menu prices, but doing that means a lot less burgers sold and less money in your pocket. So to avoid raising menu prices you have to fire some workers. 80 divided by 15 is 5 and 1/3. So you can afford to keep 5 workers without raising prices at all. New hourly labor is $75 an hour. So you fire 3 workers. Now 37.5% of those laborers are out of a job and the ones remaining have to do all the labor the others used to do on top of what they were doing before.
Everyone has more money now, if they're working, but not every business could afford to lay off their workers to keep prices low. Now many things in the area are raising in price.
On the employee side ... You have to agree to the wage when you accept a job. If a person is willing to work for $10 an hour doing an easy job, they should be able to do that.
The min wage should be low so simple work like messengers, paper boys, movie theater ushers, doormen and other such easy jobs are readily available for people, even kids, who want them. Raising the min wages prices that kind of work out of the market. It's illegal to pay a man $10 an hour to sweep the parking lot whether he would accept that wage or not.
When you raise the wage, the business will typically hire less workers and be more discriminating in the workers they hire meaning a lot of people would be out of a job and have a hard time getting a new one.
In the meantime they could have worked as a bag boy at the local supermarket, but they can't now bc you would have to pay someone $20 an hour to do that and the job isn't worth paying $20 and hour so the cashier can bag your stuff or you can bag it yourself.
So, in summation, the min wage should be kept low so jobs are plentiful and priced fairly, at a wage determined by the market value of the position, as agreed upon by employers and employees, which is best for consumers, producers and the economy at large.
I dated a Latina schoolteacher once. She really taught me a thing or two.
The sex was great, but she had this really annoying habit of grading me. No matter what I did or how enthusiastic I became, it was always "C. C. Oh ... C."
Life can be a little like musical chairs.
If you don't pick a position and go for it you can be left standing when the music stops.
Fi-yuh! Ommpf! Fi-yuh!
It creeps around the door's edge
Flames lick at floorboards
It's hiding under your bed
Just can't take it anymore
I was at the store and I saw "Made with REAL fruit" on some of the boxes in the fruit snack aisle. As I looked around I saw more and more of it. Blueberry Pancake mix made with REAL blueberries. Yogurt with REAL strawberries.
I realized how strange it is that real food being in our food would be a selling point. Like that's not how it's supposed to be.
