The ability to build anything has come with a critical lesson: Engineers have really, really bad ideas.

Everyone in the replies wants to make it about immigration, but it’s brainrot surface-level analysis. The better question is: Who influenced those policymakers? And what were those policymakers doing during their formative years that made Europe OK with this?

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. wapo.st/4yt6dHY

They really just got on stage and said this newly designed 4000+ pound car can do flips and go half the speed of sound (380+mph) and will ship in 2028. This is a prank, right?
Our design language has evolved since the last reveal: from S3XY to Cybertruck, Cybercab & Optimus Roadster is inspired by the SR-71 & F-35

The UK’s most powerful government-built AI supercomputer, Isambard-AI, cost £225m The Botley Road bridge cost roughly the same Apparently our frontier AI capacity and one bridge are comparable national investments
Cars and buses go from Oxford Station down Botley Road for the first time in three years! The project took longer than the construction of The Titanic and saw costs balloon to £237m. Looks good though.

A short rail bridge over a two-lane road in Oxford took longer to build and cost more (inflation-adjusted) than some of the most famous construction projects in history

I feel sorry for Ed Sheeran Yes, he’s a multimillionaire recording artist But he’s also — at heart — a Hollister, gap-year normie The sort of middle-class lad who can’t help but bust out the guitar at a house party and wants everyone to get along He’s not built for this age

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

JUST IN: Professor Jiang claims AI isn’t real intelligence & is instead “manipulated by humans somewhere in India.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Jiang Xueqin styles himself "Professor Jiang" but is a high school teacher with a Yale BA in English literature and no university faculty position. His claims misrepresent AI as live human manipulation rather than output from trained neural networks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiang_Xue… indiatoday.in/world/story/pr… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_lan…

jev is insane 🫣 it makes realtime virtual try-on hauls possible. built this experiment for Drape with @typesafeai > i talk > jev reads transcript + what i'm wearing > picks from my closet > changes my outfit in realtime cost: $0.0011 per decision time: ~620ms per decision imagine getting ready like this:
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution
