Wow!!! The Vice President of the United States just did the strangest thing a serving VP can do. He wrote a public autopsy blaming his own administration's war for a historic defeat. By the time I read it, it had 38 million views. If you read it as "venting" then you missed the whole point. But if you read it as positioning and it snaps into focus. A loyal number two eats a loss like this quietly. You do NOT go out in public and pin the worst night your party has had in years on the signature policy of the president @POTUS you serve. @JDVance did exactly that, and he gave himself cover doing it, "the president himself said so last night." He is using Trump's own words as a shield while making Trump's war THE reason the GOP lost the SENATE for six years. Call that what it is, a man building distance and making sure he cannot be blamed for building it... Now look at his four reasons, the ones he hangs on the base. 1. End the war. 2. Cost of living. 3. America First. 4. And then, change our relationship to Israel. Three of those are safe populist lines any Republican can shout. The fourth is the one that ends careers in this party and this America, and instead of saying it in his own voice, he put it in the mouths of the voters. That is how you float the most dangerous position in the GOP without owning it. I am only telling you what the base wants. So the real signal is underneath all of it. Vance is reading where the Republican coalition is GOING, well ahead of where it is today. He is planting a flag in the anti-war lane while the war is still on, because if it goes badly through 2027 every I-told-you-so compounds in his favour. And he is loosening the one tether, Israel, that a post-war base may punish hardest. He is buying a cheap option on 2028 and letting the party's own anger pay for it. The order of effects runs outward from there. 1. First he boxes Trump, who cannot disown the war-cost-us line without contradicting his own mouth. 2. Second he claims the restraint wing of the party before any rival moves into it. 3. Third, and the region is reading this too, the second most powerful man in Washington just told the world that the American appetite for this war is cracking. 4. Allies and adversaries both price that in. This is what the opening of a succession looks like. A weakened principal, a war that split the coalition, and a VP who is first into the crack. None of that was a slip. He drew a map for his own career. I fear for his safety. 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗟, 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗜𝗦𝗘!

Iranian strength is what killed the Republicans. Vice President JD Vance made the surprising admission on social media that Trump’s war with Iran was what caused the massive Democratic Party sweep of the midterm elections, stating plainly that “The reason we lost is the war.” Saying “the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone,” Vance noted that a poll found Trump 2024 voters who ditched the president’s party in 2026 gave four main answers to the question of what the Republicans could do to win them back: “1) End the war, 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation, 3) Put America First , 4) Change our relationship to Israel.” All four of these answers tie directly in to Trump’s decision to launch an unprovoked war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The war itself, failing to put America first, and Washington’s grotesque alliance with the state of Israel are all straightforward references to Trump’s warmongering in the middle east. Cost of living/inflation is also strongly related since the blockades resulting from Trump’s war have been costing every American household thousands of dollars in rising fuel and grocery prices. That last one is the real story of this election. As is often the case, economic concerns ranked as the number one issue among US voters in the lead-up to the midterm elections, and one of the major reasons why Americans have been struggling economically is because of the war in Iran. So the story isn’t that Americans spontaneously transformed into a country full of tender-hearted peaceniks in November 2026. The story is that Iran was able to impose an economic cost on ordinary Americans for the actions of their evil government. The average American is a propaganda-addled empire zombie who has been indoctrinated into cold-hearted indifference to their government’s abuses in the global south. American voters didn’t reject the war in Iran because they believe it’s immoral to bomb schools and civilian infrastructure in depraved wars of aggression overseas, they rejected it because it was costing them more to fill up their pickup trucks, and they were having to pay more money for their buckets of Mountain Dew and ranch dressing. If Trump had won the war in four to six weeks as he initially claimed he would, his monstrous attack on Iran would have been no more consequential in the polls than his regime change interventionism in Venezuela. It is only because Iran succeeded in doing whatever it needed to do to retain the military strength needed to impose a financial toll on the American electorate that the Republicans lost the Senate for years to come. War with Iran is now officially political poison because of Iranian strength. US officials love to whine and complain that Iran spends its money on its military instead of on the Iranian people (though the United States is literally the absolute dead-last country on earth who has any business airing such a grievance), and to this day they’re still weeping crocodile tears about the way Tehran aggressively smacked down the CIA/Mossad uprising at the beginning of the year. But Iran has shown the world that a nation must retain its strength if it wants to retain its sovereignty and avoid being turned into another resource extraction scam for the US empire. Every country that retains the necessary muscle to beat back the US empire’s efforts to absorb it into its power umbrella invariably gets smeared by the imperial propaganda machine as a tyrannical and despotic rogue state, but it is the US empire who makes it necessary for governments to exert force if they don’t want to be replaced with subservient US puppet regimes. Western propaganda likes to frame the global struggle as free democracies versus oppressive autocracies, but really it’s just nations who wish to retain their sovereignty versus the empire who wants to take that sovereignty away from them. It is the fault of the US empire that the only nations who have thus far resisted absorption are the ones who retain enough military strength and domestic control to do so. The United States didn’t retreat from Vietnam because the Americans suddenly developed a conscience, it retreated because the Vietnamese fought like lions and kept sending home coffins draped in red, white and blue. The Republicans didn’t lose the midterms because Americans dislike war, they lost because the Iranians beat the shit out of them.

Today, #November4, 2026, #BobDylan was received in audience by Pope Leo XIV. Together with the editor of L'Osservatore Romano, I accompanied him to the Apostolic Palace. The meeting had the feel of history about it, and at every step I had the sense that anything could happen. Speaking of peace, Leo brought up "Go Away You Bomb." In 1963, Izzy Young, who ran the Folklore Center in Greenwich Village, was putting together a songbook against the atomic bomb; Dylan showed up the next day with the lyrics, typed. In the song, a man talks to the bomb, insults it, orders it to leave. The book never came out, and Dylan never recorded the song. In 2014, the typescript went on the block at Christie's and found no buyer, but the lyrics were published, and so a song that was never sung made its way to a pope's desk, in the company of Dorothy Day, Giorgio La Pira, and Stanislav Petrov, the Soviet officer who, in 1983, declined to pass on a missile alert that the computers insisted was real. Leo is an Augustinian. In 1967, on John Wesley Harding, Dylan had dreamed of that saint. In "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine," the narrator watches Augustine searching for those who have already sold their souls, witnesses his martyrdom, and realizes, with horror, that he is one of the crowd that put him to death. He wakes alone, in tears. The model was the old ballad about Joe Hill, the labor organizer executed by firing squad in Utah in 1915; Dylan put the Bishop of Hippo in his place and turned a rallying cry into an unwitting confession about our tendency to silence those who bring us the truth. Born in Chicago in 1955, Prevost grew up on the American music of those years. Jim Musselman, a classmate of his at Villanova and a Dylan devotee, recalls that the two of them talked about music a great deal, and that it was Musselman who got him to read an essay pointing to Dylan as the poetic talent of his generation. The Pope who introduced himself from the loggia of St. Peter's as "a son of St. Augustine" knows Dylan's music, and Dylan was glad to meet the American Pope.

👇 📚 Referencia científica: "Cholesterol-lowering and glycemic effects of barley beta-glucan: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials" — Publicado en European Journal of Clinical Nutrition / British Journal of Nutrition.

A CITY LOST IN THE DESERT FOR 600 YEARS… AND THE MYSTERIES IT LEFT BEHIND Deep in the vast Gobi Desert of northwestern China stands one of the most haunting ancient ruins in the world: Khara-Khoto, also known as the Black City. Built around the 11th century, this once-thriving settlement was an important military and trading center of the Western Xia Dynasty. Its strong defensive walls, busy streets, Buddhist temples, and remarkable architecture once made it a significant city in this remote desert region. But its story took a dramatic turn in 1372, when Ming Dynasty forces besieged the city. According to historical accounts and local legends, the attackers cut off its water supply by diverting the nearby river. Without water in the middle of the desert, survival became almost impossible. The city eventually fell, and its people disappeared from history, leaving behind a settlement that would slowly become buried beneath the desert sands. Today, its massive mud-brick walls still rise above the golden dunes. Ancient towers, ruined buildings, and the remains of religious structures offer a glimpse into a civilization that once flourished here. For centuries, the city remained largely forgotten until Russian explorer Pyotr Kozlov reached the ruins in 1908. His expedition uncovered thousands of ancient manuscripts, Buddhist paintings, books, and other remarkable artifacts, revealing valuable details about the forgotten Tangut civilization. What makes Khara-Khoto especially fascinating is how much of its history survived beneath the sand. A city that once supported thousands of people, welcomed travelers, and played an important role in regional trade was eventually reduced to silent ruins. Today, the desert surrounds its ancient walls as if trying to hide them once again. Yet every surviving structure tells a story of human ambition, faith, war, and the passage of time. How many other lost cities are still waiting to be discovered beneath the world’s deserts? Antonio Gramsci warned of the dangerous interval when the old order is dying and the new cannot yet be born. He called it the time of monsters. I fear America has just entered one of those moments. JD Vance is right. Trump's humiliating midterm defeat owes a great deal to the Iran war and the economic damage it has inflicted on ordinary Americans. But while Vance is examining why the Republicans lost, I'm rather more concerned about what Trump does next. I've suspected for some time that Washington was deliberately holding back from another major escalation against Iran until the midterms were over. Another surge in oil prices, another hammering at the petrol pumps, and the Republicans would have faced an even angrier electorate. Well, the votes are counted. The Republicans have been thrashed, and the political calculation that may have restrained Trump has changed. And there's the danger. Trump has already acknowledged that the war contributed to his defeat, yet insists he'd make the same decision again. That's hardly the language of a man contemplating the error of his ways. My prediction is that he'll double down. With the Democrats not taking control of Congress until January, he has a window in which to escalate military operations, test the limits of his executive authority and attempt to impose his will before the new Congress can challenge him. I hope I'm wrong. He could just as easily decide that another confrontation with Iran would deepen his political troubles. But Trump has never struck me as a man who responds particularly well to humiliation, especially when admitting defeat means admitting he was wrong. And that brings me back to Gramsci and his monsters. The American electorate has voted to restrain Trump, but the machinery of power remains in his hands. The ballot box has delivered its verdict, yet the new Congress cannot act on that verdict until January. History teaches us that the most dangerous period isn't always when a leader is at the height of his power. Sometimes it's when that power begins slipping away, when wounded pride becomes political desperation and military force offers the illusion of restored authority. Trump has lost the confidence of the electorate, but he hasn't lost command of the world's most powerful military. And that is precisely why I believe the coming weeks could be more dangerous than anything we've witnessed so far. The time of monsters may be upon us. @PaulKnaggs, The Heartlands Tribune

To put in perspective the UK's new crackdown on a largely non-existent antisemitism problem in schools, remember that more than 2,000 young British Jews are believed to have headed off to Israel to help its military commit genocide in Gaza. The government has done nothing to stop them going. Meanwhile, British police have been repeatedly handed details of potential war crimes suspects but so far have failed to investigate, arrest or charge any of them. Powell, the UK’s education secretary, has told Sky News: “I don’t think that our schools should be a place where it’s about making protests and statements about geopolitical events around the world.” And yet only a year ago her predecessor, Bridget Phillipson, who set up the Bell review, was filmed in British classrooms with primary schoolchildren waving Ukrainian flags. Despite Powell’s new prohibition, many Jewish pupils will continue to be encouraged by their schools to identify strongly with the foreign state of Israel – a state almost permanently mired, in the worst possible way, in “geopolitical events”. If it is important for British children to identify with and support Ukraine’s white children through their suffering, why is it not possible – why is it antisemitism – for British children to similarly identify with and support the brown children of Gaza as they go through far greater suffering? It is hard to imagine an answer that is not racist to its core. Whatever the government claims, these double standards are not driven by principle. They are not about antisemitism. This is about protecting Israel. Burnham entered office apologising for how his predecessor, Starmer, “got it wrong” at the outset of Israel’s slaughter in Gaza. But his government is now doubling down on what Labour got equally wrong in the years leading up to the genocide – when it dedicated its energies to crushing the section of the party led by Corbyn that was warning of Israel’s deeply racist character and of what it was likely to do to the Palestinians. The gencoide has vindicated Corbyn and the left in the most horrifying manner possible. No matter. As with the current attacks on Zack Polanski of the Greens, none of this is really about antisemitism. It is about Israel. It is about the British establishment and the billionaire class protecting their interests both in the war industries Israel is so central to and in the oil-rich Middle East, where Israel acts as the West’s attack dog. This is about crushing dissent to prop up a crumbling western political order, led by a greedy, belligerent narcissist in the White House, as it is afflicted by collapse on every front: economic, environmental, political and social. Dissatisfaction and unrest are growing. Violence is simmering. Bullying children into saluting the Israeli flag will not halt the decline. It simply underscores how much the “liberal” western order has lost the plot.
