Former Raiders media, now I give my thoughts from time to time

Guess I missed it, but now seeing Jay Z has announced that the Super Bowl halftime act will be...Jay Z. Reminds me when NFL conduct discipline levied by Roger Goodell is appealed by the player to...Roger Goodell.

So much of the talk around Klint Kubiak has changed over the last 4 weeks. I know losses will do that, but he went from a quality hire to a numbskull in a month (to some people), as if we didn’t know those last 4 games would be the toughest stretch on the schedule.
🎯🎯🎯 My ENTIRE point why I want him to continue to sit. Half of the fanbase doing it with Kubiak right now. And they were 💯 percent endorsing the hire.

Sounds crazy, but I still think they can get to 7 wins if their best players stay healthy. A lot also depends on when/if Fernando Mendoza plays.

I was hoping for at least 7-10 but….you ain’t lied to me yet, cuz. Smh.

I love that Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins are both 38 years old and starting QB’s. I married Kenny when he was 38. He was the 2nd oldest player in the league.

RB Dylan Laube (@dylan_laube) notches 42 yards on his second kickoff return of the day. He has now recorded four kickoff returns of 40+ yards this season, the most in the NFL. #RaiderNation | @Raiders

#Raiders didn’t elevate a RB from the practice squad ahead of the game. And when Kubiak was asked Friday about Washington, he said “We’re expecting him to be ready.”
Raiders RB Mike Washington Jr. (foot/back) is considered a game-time decision today vs Rams, per sources. Some optimism exists but Raiders needs to see how he feels today.

The Raiders not activating either RB from the practice squad is probably a good sign for Mike Washington Jr. despite his lack of practice participation

Mike Washington Jr. may be good to go then.
The Raiders have elevated DT Tim Keenan and DE Cian Slone from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game against the Rams. They did not elevate a running back or linebacker with Mike Washington Jr. and Quay Walker questionable.

Good thing the Raiders didn't kick the can down the road to that generational 2027 QB class ... lol. I'll take Fernando Mendoza, thank you very much!😂
Several NFL executives expressed skepticism this week that some, if not a majority, of the projected top QBs will even enter the 2027 NFL Draft. That includes Arch Manning, whom NFL scouts have seen less of since Texas closed practice. More in The Sweep: tompelissero.substack.com/p/…

He's no Brock Bowers, but Michael Mayer is finally a serious receiving threat from the Y position. He complements Bowers and Tucker nicely as a secondary option.
The Raiders have a tight end who… -Has more yards per route run than Trey McBride -Is 5th among all TEs in receptions That’s right, it’s Michael Mayer. That and more from week 6 at Remember The Tight Ends ⬇️

YES! This is a great take on the subject! We talked about this on the show a few weeks back. You can't just treat it like poker or blackjack, cos you don't necessarily get the time for the math to work in your favor. What's that line, the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent? Same idea. You want the information; you don't want to go with the edge lean every single time just cos it says 51%.
Kyle Shanahan says a 51% analytics recommendation won’t convince him to go for it because he gets one shot, not an hour at a blackjack table “I don’t want to hear about it if it’s 51% of the time we should go for it.” “As I always say, I’m not sitting here playing Blackjack for an hour with no one else at the table, and eventually I’ll get 51% of it. Like, I have this one try, and I have a feel for it. I’ve been doing it too long.” “But what I want to know from him, when it’s not a feel, when it, no, this is 98%. We don’t even need to talk about it. So we don’t need to talk about it. Tell me when it’s that, and I’ll just do it.”

Every play I see people argue about with Ashton Jeanty is like "could he have gotten 2-more yards by running into this side of a brick wall or not?"

The Raiders have been tied or held the lead in the 4th quarter in 5 of their 6 games this season. Last year? They did it just 5 times in 17 games. No moral victories in football. Wins and losses are what count. 🏴‍☠️ But there’s no denying these Raiders games have been more competitive and a whole lot more entertaining to call. Hopefully, Raider Nation is enjoying the ride, too. Just need a few more of these close games to finish with a W. ☠️

Davante Adams Left knee (non-contact) vs Hamstring He’s grabbing the medial / anterior aspect of the knee. There’s a couple possibilities here: Bone bruise + hyperextension MCL sprain (usually contact) Meniscus tear (medial) Unable to rule out ACL tear. Bone bruise would be best case scenario for the knee. One can ‘hope’ is a weird distal hamstring. Let’s hope for some good news and clarity soon.
