This act of animal cruelty was captured on CCTV at the entrance of our residence in Pelawatta yesterday morning. A complaint has been lodged with the police.
We are seeking the public’s help in identifying this individual to assist the authorities with their investigation.
Animal cruelty should never be tolerated in our country. We must stand together to ensure that such acts are taken seriously and that those responsible are held accountable.

A porcupine was brutally attacked and killed near a house in Pelawatta, early on Saturday morning, a resident told Daily Mirror online.
The incident captured on CCTV showed the animal being brutally attacked before being carried away.
The resident, who reached out to this journalist, said that a Police complaint had been lodged over the incident.
The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, suspected the animal may have been killed for its meat.
“The individuals can be identified in the video and we are seeking public assistance in the investigations,” the resident told
Daily Mirror.
The brutal killing was yet another incident of animal cruelty captured on social media in Sri Lanka.

I have spent much of the year traveling across Sri Lanka, visiting government and CSO-run aged care facilities and speaking with beneficiaries and caregivers as preparatory work to inform future investment in this sector. It is a severely underfunded area. Miles to go before we sleep.
