I mean this with all sincerity... How is it possible that we have technology that allows to communicate with someone on the other side of the world via something that fits in our pocket, cars that can drive themselves, and computers that can form their own thoughts and talk back to us... but it took til 2026 for someone to say "hey, we could solve this stale cereal problem by using those bags that people buy to store stuff in"?

I didn't go into the same detail like Bill does, but the takeaways are obvious. Jason Beck rode Devon Dampier to success at two stops, and has turned a solid offense with lots of upside into an awful one, while torpedoing this season that *SHOULD* have been headed for playoffs
Michigan's defense has held all 7 opponents to 20 points or fewer. Since 2014, FBS teams that do that win 87% of the time. Michigan is 4-3. Jason Beck has to go. Now. Here's the data. 🧵

P.P.S. This is about Michigan's offensive coordinator Jason Beck, not MLB.com's @beckjason , who is still an awesome beat writer (tho probably also currently annoyed with Chelsea unable to score on the Spurs)
If Jason Beck isn't fired by December 1, I am giving up my season tickets. I have never been more disgusted with a Michigan football team than I have been with this team - the offense specifically. And I lived through 2008 with RichRod.

I am *shocked* that the play call with Bryce didn't work, when he had to stand there for 3 seconds to let the multiple end around fakes that no one buys run by

Name a player who's remembered for one single play. One moment, and it's the first thing anybody thinks of when they hear his name. Any sport, any era.

YES! Players should sign multi-year deals when they sign coming out of HS, with built-in escalators and incentives. And if a player wants to transfer, the school he's going to has to compensate the school that developed him. This should become the new way in which smaller programs will fund their NIL.
NEW: Duke head coach Manny Diaz tells @AndyAriOn3 that schools should receive a "transfer fee" when players portal: "If you sign a bunch of great recruits and you develop them and they go somewhere else, I'll go back to European soccer. You should receive a transfer fee."

If I were Hilton or Marriott... I would just have a team of people scanning Twitter/Reddit all day for these types of issues, and boost the hell out of the posts to highlight all of the awful experiences. And then chime in with a reminder that you could just book a hotel.
thanks @Airbnb for cancelling the rest of my stay after i asked for compensation for unusable wifi. now i’m being told to leave TODAY, with two weeks left that i already paid for (way more than 700$) and nowhere else booked. apparently asking for working wifi was too much.

Outside of the fact that this tweet just wreaks of misogyny, I don't understand the problem. She's on the sideline, actively taking notes on the game, and during a break, asked the coach that WORKS FOR HER a question. 1. As the owner, she's allowed to do pretty much whatever she wants. 2. If she has a question about something, the coach should be able to easily answer who/what/why. If he can't, that says far more about the coach than her. 3. Sheila Ford Hamp (Lions owner) is actively involved in the Lions. And we've seen on social media videos that she will ask questions of her coach and GM. We've never seen her be rude or demeaning, but asking about the thought process and decision-making, things a good boss can and should do.
Colts Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon is asking coaches why plays were called in London 😂 Imagine having her as an owner 😳
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Carlie Irsay-Gordon has observed Colts sideline communications with a headset and playbook for over a decade to learn operations, not to question or direct coaches about specific plays. This practice long predates the London game and does not involve interference. colts.com/news/carlie-ir… heavy.com/sports/nfl/ind… hitc.com/indianapolis-c…

I don't care if Warde is a lame duck Athletic Director... this football staff needs a shake-up immediately, especially on offense. Jason Beck has created an offensive scheme that is completely incapable of consistently moving the football. He deserves to be fired.

I am 100% in favor of returning to this format. Two wild card teams play a single game elimination game on Monday. Winner advances to play in a best of 7 starting Wednesday (best of 7 vs best of 5 because you have to add games for TV if you're cutting the WC round).
Given three divisions, the best format was two wildcards play a single game to advance.

Completely agree with this. The current playoff structure hurts some teams a lot and benefits others – at Pleasant Ridge, MI
I will repeat. They play 162 games to decide Division CHAMPS. MLB cannot have a system in place where a Division CHAMPION’s season is decided in a 3-game series. MLB Postseason format is broken.

So between the Dodgers recent ownership issues, the Protect College Sports Act and now the massive scandal with Man City in the Premier League, I have come to a conclusion. If Major League Baseball wants to maintain some semblance of competitive balance AND avoid the risks of these financial-related cheating scandals... MLB MUST implement a salary cap. I think players need to push for a high floor AND get a comparable share of revenue to what other sports receive and exceeds what they currently get. But as private equity and foreign investors get more heavily involved in professional sports, there's simply no way to avoid the inherent risks that come with it that will poison the competitive integrity if we allow some teams to simply buy their way to titles.

The only surprising thing to me is that this wasn't already happening. Given how things work in the baseball space with Perfect Game and the like, it's been standard operating procedure for at least a decade. – at Pleasant Ridge, MI
1.04M kids played HS football last season. About 6,600 held a Rivals star rating… roughly 0.6%. That's not a talent gap. It's a capacity gap. Our scouts have always focused on FBS prospects, and FCS, D-II, NAIA and D-III kids rarely get their film watched. Rivals Recruits puts the same scouts, held to the same standards, on more of that film. You can pay for an evaluation. You can't pay for the result. Great resource and link for all college coaches and scouts. More opportunities for athletes. on3.com/rivals/rankings/rada…

When Ohio State lost to Michigan in 2024 for their 2nd loss and STILL made the CFP, we officially lost the value of the regular season. Power conference teams will now get 3rd and even 4th chances. I really cannot believe we spent 40 years moving at a glacial pace to expand the postseason... from bowls only, to the BCS and a single national title game, to a 4 team playoff... and then jumped over the numbers 6 and 8, the ones that made the most sense all along and went right to 12. *SHAKES FIST AT THE SKY* – at Pleasant Ridge, MI
Alabama AD Greg Byrne thinks college football is headed toward a 24-team playoff. But he also has a warning: “We have to be very sensitive to making sure the regular season continues to have the value that it does.” Read the exclusive Q&A with @SkinnyKenny_ ⬇️
