Voters gave us a strong mandate. Let's use it to push bold, implementable ideas like MediKids. Guaranteed healthcare for our kids is a no brainer.

With Dems all but certain to prevail in Mississippi and Alaska, we're most likely looking at a 56D-44R Senate and a ~260D-175R House, which would be Dems' largest House majority since 1992.

If you're able to apply any political label to any political candidate to win an argument, maybe the labels don't mean so much...

Cannot run on corruption = costs and not investigate the scale of corruption. Mandate is def both, the investigative will require finesse and discipline but it’s going to happen. Don’t lie, be consistent.

So dull.
I really find the overperformance/underperformance discourse incredibly dull. We all have eyes and we can count. Each campaign and candidate has its own eccentricities and the onus is really on future candidates (and staff) to draw the lessons on what success looks like for their own purposes.

The millennial generation is a generation of change. No matter the resistance from others, this change was inevitable. We’re older and smarter and hotter and just getting started
Boomers won the generational war, but Millennials can win the peace.

Angie Nixon didn’t win her Democratic primary because of a weak state party. Voters chose her over a candidate who outspent her 10 to 1. Also no one outside of the national media bubble saw her through the lens of “DSA,” which is part of the reason she beat back the GOP caricature of that label, and shows the limits of this sort of analysis. Actual people chose an actual person — let’s start there
Ezra Klein on the electoral performance of El-Sayed, Peggy Flanagan and Angie Nixon: Angie Nixon—I don't think there's any reason to look at the results and say it was a brilliant strategic move to run the DSA candidate in Florida. Sometimes people take statements about electoral performance as moral statements about the worth of a candidate or the ideas. That's crazy in my view.

Yesterday felt good for many reasons, but a big one is because, to me, it felt like the end of endless 2016. Something broke. And it didn’t fall neatly on ideological lines. People are not interested in factional score settling. It’s just not productive.
The future of the Democratic party is probably not this endless factional war—which turned out to be entirely irrelevant to yesterday's results, by the way

The Democrat factional fighting is a relic of 2016. This election points toward a new liberal fusionism, candidates who combine leftist economic populism with centrist pragmatism. Talarico and Ossoff offer a model on this. The factional stuff is old news, beltway chatter.
i think "moderates did better on tuesday" and "anti-rich vibes used to be identifiably 'left-wing' but they've become fairly normie in the last few years" are both accurate takes, altho i expect a lot of discourse warfare between these positions in the next few days

I swear to god if we make this about progressives vs moderates. We had a rainbow of impressive candidates from across the political spectrum. Don’t be boring. The ideologue convo is so tired. Run your district, run your state, do what’s right for them.

Look who outpaced the polls 🤌🏾
Looks like the polls underestimated Democrats in 14 of 15 key Senate races, with an average polling error of 4.4 points. Polls were the most accurate in Michigan, Kansas, Maine, and Ohio. The biggest polling misses were in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas.

If current projections hold, Democrats will gain 8 Senate seats. For context, that is the same number of seats Republicans gained in the 1994 midterms. It’s a bigger Senate swing than Watergate (5 seats), 2006 (6 seats), and the Tea Party (6 seats).
