RIP Dad. Love you always. Miguel/Michael Angelo Rosales: 1932-2020. Born in TX & raised in a one room, dirt floor house, overcame 1940/50s anti-Hispanic racism to be the first in his family to graduate college (CSULA & UCLA). 41 year LAUSD teacher/principal. USMC vet. #ProudSon

One of a the smart guys. A colleague of mine over at @TheAAPC. One of a handful of us political consultants with a Latino background - but he and @madrid_mike are the two premier pros who have done more work in that voter space than anyone. We may be on opposite sides of the aisle, but I’d be foolish not to study his success.
Remember that time I decided not to run for Dnc chair because I felt like I could do more good actually winning elections for Democrats in their races. I made the right choice #NoDegreeRequired
I don’t know many in CA that share the opinion Newsom has “always engaged the press and public.” And given the carry over of Newsom comms staff to Becerra - the continuation of Gavin’s dodgy MO isn’t surprising.
This is going to be a massive change for CA media. And a real loss for voters wanting to know what the GOV thinks. The last two CA governors (Jerry and Gavin) always engaged the press and public and were willing to share their views even when they could evolve. Methinks this is going to be a contentious relationship between this next GOV and the CA press corps.
Newsom: Prop 50 redistricting…will of the voters! Death penalty…just kidding
BREAKING: California Gov. @GavinNewsom says he plans to change all California death sentences to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
This is expected to impact all 548 California death row prisoners.
He announced his decision in the below letter to the people of California:

It should be noted that Gavin Newsom, while running for governor in 2018, specifically pledged to honor voters' decision to keep the death penalty. Almost immediately after inauguration he declared a moratorium on executions and now is granting clemency to death row inmates.

548 death sentences. One man is wiping them out on his way out the door.
The monster who strangled 12-year-old Polly Klaas. The man who tortured 8-year-old Gabriel Fernandez to death.
Juries said death. Newsom said never mind.
That’s not justice. It’s a betrayal of every victim.

Partially true. I would add the failure of the grid, high property taxes and the list goes on. #MAGA #Trump #Taxes #Texas #TexasTurnedBlue

Lest one argue @realDonaldTrump shouldn't appoint federal judges before the new Congress is sworn in, a history lesson: In 1980, after Jimmy Carter was defeated AND the Senate shifted Democrat to Republican, he made numerous appellate court appointments, including Steven Breyer.
Understand that legislative politics is a team sport. Buckle up Nevada and Texas - these are the policies you voted for.
Wise words from my friend, colleague and longtime, successful GOP pro ⬇️
I was drinking from the fire hose in 96.
I learned a lot in 98.
I remember the elation of 2000-04.
Can’t forget the “thumping” of 2006.
The unhinged apocalyptic fear of 2008.
The unexpected Red tsunami of 2010.
The sadly predictable 2012.
I think 2014 was a blip.
The complete surprise of 2016.
Another ass whooping in 2018.
The “end is here” of 2020.
The satisfaction of 2022.
Amazing return from the dead of 2024.
And now another beat down in 2026.
God is still above. The sun will come up. You will live. Dust yourselves off and check on your friends (regardless of party).
It will be ok. Not painless but fun stories to tell over a drink later down the road.
America is the greatest country in the world and Americans are unmatched in our desire to do more for the less fortunate and to defend the less safe. Tell God “Thank You” you were born here or “Thank God” for the opportunity to be here and join the American family.
🚨 Republican Sen. Ashley Moody garnered another two years in office from Florida voters after beating back a challenge by progressive firebrand and Democratic state legislator Angie Nixon.

2 tactics at play nationally - 1) wider margined Dem generated polls a week or two ago with questionable methodology have now closed to within margins, the intent was both to suppress & fundraise. Closer margined updates now give those polls cover. 2) Watch for mail ballot drops from Dems in numbers that protect margins they see from GOP Election Day turnout.
12:10 p.m. Nevada Election Day update
Rs are up 7.7K voters so far. A ~1.6K improvement in the last 70 minutes.
Rs lead Clark by 500 voters and Washoe by 1.7K voters. Both are improvements in the last hour. That's a very good sign, although Rs need this trend to accelerate and soon.
Plenty of high-propensity R voters remaining. Will they show up over the next 7 hours?
And how many Ds are dropping off mail ballots?
Note for CA & National pundits & reporters..CA’s first Governor of Mexican ancestry was Romualdo Pacheco in 1875. Pacheco was also Lt Gov, State Treasurer & served in the Legislature & US Congress. He was the elected Lt. Gov when Gov Newton Booth resigned, and assumed the governship. Xavier Becerra would be the first elected CA Governor of Mexican Ancestry. governors.library.ca.gov/12-…
