John (32) and Charles Wesley (28) arrive in Savannah, Georgia, answering an invitation from Governor James Oglethorpe to serve as missionaries to Native Americans. Their time in America proves difficult, and John Wesley later returns to England, where he experiences his evangelical conversion and helps launch the Methodist movement.

I regret to say that Richard Hays, NT professor emeritus of Duke Divinity School, and co-author of a recent book with his Fuller OT professor son Christopher, a book that I have held up to critical scrutiny for departing from an orthodox (Jesus-based) view of a male-female foundation for sexual ethics, is experiencing a rapid and steep decline in health from the effects of cancer. He is now in hospice care and writes, "The end of life for me is approaching faster than I expected." I only just found this out. I had hoped that he would have at least many months more to live, even years. I will be in prayer for him and invite those who know him, or of him, to join in prayer.
