Thank you to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy for facilitating this exchange between GCC and Northern European think tanks, diplomats and policymakers. Qatar values women’s participation at every level, from sports to ministerial positions, and recognises that representation must be matched by meaningful empowerment. While the path remains long and complex, Qatar has made tremendous progress within its own institutions and consistently placed women’s issues at the heart of its foreign policy, from Gaza to Kabul. There is much to learn from one another, particularly on accelerating progress through capacity building, grassroots empowerment, and using our privileges to uplift less privileged women. This includes strengthening women’s participation in mediation and advancing efforts to secure meaningful relief for women in conflict areas. I will share some of the most compelling ideas and challenges raised over the coming days, in the hope that we can learn from one another and advance progress within our respective institutions.
