A shocking leak exposes alleged sexual violence by Sudanese army soldiers in Khartoum — with perpetrators even boasting about their crimes. Sudanese women are NOT war trophies. Rape is a crime, not a victory. No uniform can justify it. Accountability is non-negotiable.

The United Nations faces a test of credibility. When crises deepen, people need decisions that lead to action and institutions that can deliver.

What should the world expect from its next UN Secretary-General? Clear priorities, responsible use of resources and an organisation capable of following through. #LanaNusseibeh #UNSecretaryGeneral #accountability

In a world increasingly divided by wars, geopolitical rivalries, and humanitarian crises, diplomatic experience and the ability to negotiate across political divides have become essential qualities for international leadership.

A VOICE FOR THOSE WHO TOO OFTEN GO UNHEARD — LANA NUSSEIBEH AND THE PEOPLE OF PALESTINE Diplomacy is not simply about negotiations behind closed doors. It is about defending human dignity, protecting civilians, and ensuring that the suffering of vulnerable communities is heard at the highest levels of international decision-making. Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour presented Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh with the Shield of Palestine, recognizing her tireless diplomatic efforts during her tenure as the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. During the UAE's term on the UN Security Council, Nusseibeh worked alongside the Palestinian Mission, the Arab Group, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to advance diplomatic initiatives addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. These efforts contributed to the adoption of UN Security Council Resolutions 2712 and 2720, addressing humanitarian assistance and the delivery of desperately needed aid to Palestinian civilians. The UAE also supported the December 2023 UN General Assembly resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. Beyond diplomacy, the UAE's humanitarian response included tens of thousands of tonnes of aid, medical assistance, and the establishment of field and floating hospitals serving Palestinians affected by the war. The Shield of Palestine represents more than a diplomatic gesture. It symbolizes recognition of efforts to bring humanitarian concerns into international negotiations. As Lana Nusseibeh's candidacy for UN Secretary-General is discussed, her diplomatic record offers an important example of engagement across political divisions and efforts to amplify the voices of people affected by conflict. Because the voices of those suffering through war, displacement, and humanitarian catastrophe must never disappear behind geopolitical interests. A stronger United Nations must ensure that those who are too often unheard have a place in the world's most important conversations. #LanaNusseibeh #Palestine #Gaza #UnitedNations #UNSecretaryGeneral #Diplomacy

⭕️ Al-Burhan’s terrorist authorites continue its systematic, ethnically-targeted campaign against citizens from western Sudan. They have demolished hundreds of homes in Taybat al-Sheikh village, Al-Jazirah region leaving 200 families currently homeless. @UNHumanRights #SaveSudan

The Middle East is at a crossroads. From Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen, wars, displacement, and geopolitical rivalries are reshaping the Arab world. Yet its perspective remains underrepresented at the highest levels of global diplomacy.

For 80 years, the United Nations has never had a female Secretary-General. It's time to break that barrier.

“The National Congress Party was dissolved on paper in 2019; the Islamic Movement was not. Its networks remained embedded in state institutions. A ceasefire that restores the pre-war structure only guarantees the next war.” I shared my thoughts on the roots of Sudan’s war and the challenges of achieving lasting peace in this report published by African Arguments: africanarguments.org/2026/10…

This is happening in Khartoum, under the SAF-led, Muslim Brotherhood-controlled authorities. In Omdurman, passengers are so desperate to find transportation that they're climbing onto vehicle roofs just to get around. Footage from the Souq Libya–Al-Shuhada route shows dozens of people packed onto a single vehicle. Tragic. Fuel shortages and the worsening transportation crisis are making everyday life difficult for people in the capital. Ultimately, none of these problems can be sustainably addressed without fire truce. #KeepEyesOnSudan #Sudan

What has Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's military leadership brought Sudan? A shattered economy. Destroyed infrastructure. Millions forced from their homes. Children deprived of education, security, and a future.

Sudan’s future cannot remain trapped beneath a general’s boots. A uniform is no mandate. Fear is no foundation for a nation. And a country cannot build tomorrow while its people are struggling to survive today. Behind every declaration of military glory stands a family waiting for someone who will never return, a child whose classroom has fallen silent, a home that exists only in memory. Al-Burhan cannot offer Sudan a future built around his own survival in power. Sudan belongs to its people. They deserve the right to choose their leaders, question their government and live without fearing the next explosion. No speech can rebuild a shattered childhood. No medal can answer a grieving mother. Al-Burhan must resign. Sudan needs a civilian government—and a future its children can live to see

More than 14 million people have been displaced by the war. Families have lost their homes, livelihoods and security, while hunger threatens millions. Every day spent searching for food should be a devastating indictment of those responsible.
