The credibility of the 2027 elections is already facing a critical test.
@inecnigeria voters’ register remains unavailable on its website, despite the requirement under Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2026 to publish it online for public scrutiny.

Mr. Seun Onigbinde(@oluseun) on where public project tracking goes next:
1. Scale the community champions. Paid officers can’t keep expanding. Volunteers on the ground can.
2. Use AI to estimate what a project should cost, down to the blocks and cement, and to show what a proper community school could look like.
The goal: give people a vision of what a proper society should be.

Charity begins at home, they say. Learning to manage your household budget is a good place to start when it comes to making better financial decisions. It can also help you understand how government budgets work and how public money is spent.
Through the #BudgITAt15 Impact Stories series, we have shared stories of individuals and communities and how budgets affect their lives. Today, we spotlight Esiobu Nnaemeka Success, PhD, a BudgIT SFTL Fellow in Imo State, who brought young people and rural farmers in his community together to learn about personal finance and government budgets.
Participants learned how to manage household spending, find government budget documents and understand how public funds are allocated. They also gained the confidence to access this information independently.
Knowing how to find and understand government budget information helps citizens follow public spending and see how it connects to the needs of their communities.
Read Esiobu’s story to learn how he is helping young people and rural farmers build this understanding.

The budget can’t just be abstract. It has to mean something to people.
That’s why we track the projects behind it: the schools, hospitals and roads yet to be fixed or built. Arguably Nigeria’s largest public project tracker, across 34 of 36 states and around 3,500 communities.
Share your information on yourtracka.org. We activate on social media, write letters, and escalate to the EFCC, ICPC and other anti-corruption agencies, so public services reach the people they’re meant for.

Last Wednesday, the @BudgITng team joined members of the Open Alliance for a courtesy visit to the Office of the Director of Legal Services of the Nigeria Police Force.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the proposed establishment of state police, the progress of the process and how civil society can contribute to ongoing policing reforms.
The office shared updates on the state police proposal and the constitutional steps required for its implementation. The conversation also explored how the Nigeria Police Force and civil society organisations can work more closely, particularly by sharing information from communities and strengthening accountability.
At BudgIT, we are always eager to participate in conversations that bring citizens, civil society and public institutions together to exchange perspectives and contribute to decisions that affect Nigerians.

PREGNANT WOMEN DYING BECAUSE THEIR COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE CENTER IS NEGLECTED. This cannot be our new normal!🚨
For over six years, the Comprehensive Health Centre in Idi-Iroko, Adewole Community, Oluyole LGA, Oyo State, has struggled with deteriorating infrastructure, and has been unable to serve the community.
During our recent visit, we met a ghost house. Broken roofs, collapsed and broken walls, no medical equipment or attendant.
According to community members, the nearest alternative healthcare centre is about 10km away, which makes it harder for them to access quick medical attention.
Pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, older persons, and residents requiring urgent medical care sometimes get worse or die in the attempt to access care!
Dear Gov @seyimakinde, @OyoStateMOH, this is a call for IMMEDIATE intervention.
Accessible healthcare is a non negotiable!

On October 5, 2026, residents of Ifedola Estate in Meiran-Ilewe, Alimosho, Lagos, raised concerns about a drainage project that had remained unfinished for over three years.
In the first half of 2026, that same local government received N20.38 billion in FAAC allocations, the highest of all 774 local governments in Nigeria.
Alimosho was not alone at the top. All 10 local governments with the highest allocations were in Lagos State, with even the lowest among them receiving N15.42 billion.
At the other end, seven of the 10 local governments with the lowest allocations were in Osun State. Ifedayo received N2.36 billion, the lowest nationwide. That is about N13 billion less than the lowest allocation among the top 10 local governments.
With 2026 drawing to a close, what do local governments have to show for the funds they received in the first half of the year? Residents should be seeing completed projects and better public services in their communities.
Look around your community. What projects or improvements in public services can you point to?

Dear NAFDAC and Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.
The discovery of a suspected counterfeit production facility at Zamfara Plaza, Lagos, underscores the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against fake drugs and adulterated beverages.
Tracka calls on @NafdacAgency to:
📱 Turn Greenbook and NAPAMS into accessible mobile apps and regularly update them with details of all registered medicines, medical products and regulated consumables.
🔎 Strengthen intelligence-led raids and track products from manufacturers to retailers.
📞 Establish a toll-free reporting line with rapid response to public complaints.
⚖️ Ensure stringent prosecution of offenders and dismantle their distribution networks.
🤝 Empower citizens to verify products and report suspicious items.
The stakes are enormous: WHO estimates that at least 1 in 10 medical products in low- and middle-income countries is substandard or falsified. How many Nigerians must be put at risk before product verification becomes accessible to everyone?
Consumer safety demands more than raids. It demands transparency, technology and accountability.

The federal funds meant to fix your street, clean your drainages, and power your local health centers are not shared equally across Nigeria.
In the first half of 2026, an average local government in Lagos received 15.56 billion Naira from the Federation Account, while an average one in Osun got just 2.87 billion Naira.
This means a LGA in Lagos has over five times the financial power to develop its neighbourhood than one in Osun. This massive gap exists even when you account for the total number of LGAs in each state.
The Federal Account Allocation Committee uses multiple metrics to share these funds. Factors like population size, internal revenue generation, infrastructure needs, and socio-economic indicators dictate the final math. This formula creates drastic funding disparities across state lines.
Osun recorded the lowest average local government allocation at 2.87 billion Naira. Other states at the bottom of the list include Imo at 3.05 billion Naira, Akwa Ibom at 3.17 billion Naira, Ekiti at 3.18 billion Naira, and Abia at 3.27 billion Naira.
Slightly higher up the ladder, Cross River averaged 3.31 billion Naira per council. Jigawa followed closely at 3.35 billion Naira, with Kano at 3.37 billion Naira, Kebbi at 3.39 billion Naira, and Ogun at 3.41 billion Naira.
These federal allocations represent the exact pool of resources available to respond to local needs and deliver grassroots services in your community.

Imagine your 10year old son doesn't know what a tap water taste like, because there's no clean water in the community you live, and you hear your LGA received over N3bn in FAAC.
Nigerians, do the maths or whatever the subject is here.
Between January and June 2026, over N3.5billion has been disbursed in FAAC to Udu LGA, Delta state. However, this is the reality of residents of Ovworhokpokpor-Udu Community.
9years ago, a solar borehole was constructed in the community, but in the same year, it stopped working. Since then, their options have been either the community well, or they buy water from private boreholes.
Dear Hon. Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, we implore you to look into the living situation of Udu community members. Access to clean water is not a negotiable.

URGENT!🚨
Dear Gov @CCSoludo, @realdaveumahi,
This is the current state of Atani road in Ogbaru LGA, Anambra state.
Atani road is the major road in and out of Ogbaru Lga. The road has been deplorable since last year and gets worse every time it rains.
The Afia Idemili markets area and Obodoukwu residents have been severely affected by the state of this road as commuting is currently a big challenge.
We implore your offices, the @anambrastate_ @FMWNIG to facilitate the urgent repair of this road.

Dear Governor @jidesanwoolu and @followlasg.
Iledu Community under Olorunda LCDA is in serious distress.
Our assessment of the community during a town hall meeting showed that despite its population of over 700 people, they are without any Primary Health Care Centre, Primary School, or Streetlight, plus the fact that its roads are in a deplorable state.
These are basic necessities every Nigerian should not be deprived of. Ensure to prioritize these as fast as possible.
182 Children in Garin Gada are Undergoing Distressed Learning!🚨
Gov @MalaBuni, This is the current state of Garin Gada primary school in Nangere LGA, Yobe State.
All 4 classrooms available to pupils are completely dilapidated, with leaking roofs and barely enough furniture for the pupils to learn with.
Parents have told us that children cannot go to school during the rainy season over fears that the classrooms could collapse or that the roofs will cave in.
We have also received reports that teachers and the headmaster at the school do not get paid.
More concerning, in 2025, Hon. Fatima Talba, the Hon Rep of Patiskum/ Nangere constituency initated the construction of classroom block but this construction was abandoned barely 3 months after it started.
We call on your office and @GovtYobeState, to facilitate the immediate renovation of this school.

Between 2019 and 2025, the combined internally generated revenue of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT rose from N1.64tn to N5.15tn.
That is a 214.77% increase in six years.
State by state, the growth looks very different.
Enugu recorded the highest growth at 1,206.26%, followed by Katsina at 656.35%, Imo at 606.31% and Gombe at 543.63%.
Sokoto recorded the lowest growth at 7.73%, moving from N19.01bn in 2019 to N20.48bn in 2025. Benue, Ebonyi and Yobe also recorded relatively modest increases.
A high percentage increase does not always mean a state added the most revenue. Gombe’s 543.63% increase added about N37bn, while Lagos’ 173.61% growth added more than N1.1tn.
There is also the issue of purchasing power. These figures are in nominal naira, and the cost of goods and services has changed considerably since 2019. So a state collecting more naira today may still have less room to spend than the headline growth suggests.
IGR is revenue states raise themselves, alongside what they receive through FAAC. The important part is what that revenue makes possible for the people who live there: the services they receive, the infrastructure they use and the improvements they can actually see.
Find your state on the list. How did its IGR change between 2019 and 2025?
