I take my right to vote so seriously because people DIED fighting for it.
Black men gained voting rights in 1870, but Jim Crow laws, violence, and intimidation kept generations from the ballot box. It took until 1965 to pass the Voting Rights Act.
Until 1920, women could be denied the right to vote simply for being women. And even then, Black women were left behind.
People were beaten, jailed, terrorized, and murdered fighting for rights too many take for granted today.
Sitting out an election is not an option.

Big surprise Republicans are cheating. NC State Board of Elections tried to disenfranchise students of the nation’s largest historically Black University, North Carolina A&T.
They failed to realize this makes people want it even more. These students walked an hour to and from to cast their ballot.
