This is why I HATE most of the changes Bill Condon made in the film adaptation of "Dreamgirls." They made an entire generation of viewers who've never seen the stage show think Effie is the villain.
Meanwhile the two grown-ass men were sleeping with barely legal teens.

Leave him there because he is right where he wants to be.
None of you are the first person in modern history to balance marriage, parenthood, work, and friendship. Many have done it before in a way that retained both the connections they made before having their own family and the boundaries necessary to be good spouses and parents.
The most amusing aspect of this current discourse is parent friends' pretending they would attend a 30th birthday dinner in lieu of a celebratory weekend because no the fuck y'all wouldn't.
Y'all use parenthood as an excuse for even the lowest-effort commitments.
The fact that you had to engage in this kind of supposition to make the OP's stance sound reasonable proves just how absurd it is.
Like??? They make it clear that spouse and child will take precedence over every other thing in their life including decades-old friendships but get mad when people disengage from said friendships.
I am only a few years younger than Andrew Scott and have vivid recollections of the specter of oppression, repression, victimization, AIDS, and death hanging over queer films well into my 20s, so I honestly have no idea what he's talking about.

Whew, chile. I have found my people because I also believed "21 Grams" and "Babel" to be absolute slogs when I saw them in their original releases.
Too many black people have described that one aunt, uncle, or cousin who stopped coming around the family inexplicably only to discover in adulthood how dirty the family did them for y'all to think this.

People with multiple degrees, certifications, and years of experience are floundering like everyone else, and these numb skulls choose to be on the side of putting more barriers between workers and employment. Send the flood NOW.
Watching fellow Gen X-ers and millennials treat Gen Z-ers the same way boomers treated us is a disappointing yet unsurprising turn of events.
Some of you are fucking losers.

The people they wanna be monogamous with are in them. That's it. That's the mystery.
Oh my god. It's been over a week with this casual-sex discourse. Why are y'all still minding other people's pussies?!
