# MEDIA STATEMENT ## TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT TO APPROACH CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OVER ALLEGED ELECTION IRREGULARITIES **7 November 2026** The Truth and Solidarity Movement (TRUTH), under the leadership of President Mehmet Vefa Dag, has resolved to pursue urgent legal action in response to serious concerns and alleged irregularities surrounding the recent election counting process. The Movement is preparing to approach the Constitutional Court to seek urgent intervention, including an interdict preventing the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) from gazetting the final national election results until the outstanding complaints and disputed results have been properly investigated and addressed. **WARD 48 AND WARD 47: SERIOUS CONCERNS** The Movement has identified significant concerns regarding the counting and recording of votes in Cape Town, particularly: - **Ward 48:** TRUTH maintains that its records and available evidence indicate that the Movement won Ward 48. - **Ward 47:** TRUTH maintains that it secured second position. We have evidence that we believe warrants independent scrutiny. We will submit the relevant documentation, counting records and supporting material through the appropriate legal channels. **WE DEMAND TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY** An election is the foundation of democracy. Every vote must be counted accurately, transparently and in accordance with electoral law. No political party should be expected to accept disputed results without proper explanations and an opportunity for its complaints to be investigated. Our position is clear: 1. All disputed voting stations must be independently investigated. 2. Relevant ballot papers, counting records and result slips must be examined. 3. Allegations of counting irregularities must receive a proper investigation. 4. The IEC must account for discrepancies raised by political parties. 5. Final results should not be gazetted while material disputes remain unresolved, subject to the appropriate legal process. **PRESIDENT MEHMET VEFA DAG: OUR FIGHT IS FOR DEMOCRACY** President Mehmet Vefa Dag states: "We will not abandon the democratic rights of the people who voted for Truth and Solidarity Movement. Every vote matters. We have evidence that raises serious questions, and we intend to place that evidence before the highest court in the country. "This is not about refusing democracy. It is about defending democracy, protecting the integrity of every ballot and ensuring that the will of the voters is respected. "We will pursue every lawful avenue available to us. South Africans deserve an election process that is transparent, accountable and beyond question." **TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT** We call on the IEC to take these concerns seriously and ensure that every outstanding complaint receives proper attention. Our commitment to justice, transparency and democratic accountability remains unwavering. **THE PEOPLE'S VOTE MUST COUNT. DEMOCRACY MUST BE PROTECTED. TRUTH WILL PURSUE JUSTICE.** Issued by: **Office of the President** Mehmet Vefa Dag President Truth and Solidarity Movement (TRUTH) truthandsolidarity.org.za

# MEDIA STATEMENT ## TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT ### TERMINATION OF AGOA IS AN ECONOMIC ATTACK ON SOUTH AFRICAN WORKERS AND FAMILIES! The Truth and Solidarity Movement strongly condemns any decision to terminate South Africa's participation in the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). This is not merely a trade disagreement. It is a decision with potentially devastating consequences for ordinary people, workers, farmers, manufacturers, exporters and thousands of families whose livelihoods depend on international trade. **South Africa must not be punished through economic pressure while ordinary citizens pay the price.** AGOA has provided South African businesses with preferential access to the American market. Threatening or ending these benefits risks damaging industries, undermining investor confidence and placing jobs at risk. We reject the politics of economic intimidation. South Africa is a sovereign country. Our international relationships must be built on mutual respect, fairness and equal partnership — not threats, humiliation or economic blackmail. However, our government must also accept responsibility. South Africa cannot afford complacency, diplomatic failures or political arrogance. Our leaders must protect the national interest and negotiate intelligently, urgently and transparently. The Truth and Solidarity Movement demands: 1. Urgent diplomatic engagement to protect South Africa's access to the American market. 2. A transparent assessment of the potential impact on jobs, businesses and exports. 3. A comprehensive strategy to protect affected workers and industries. 4. Diversification of international trading partners to reduce economic dependence. 5. Accountability from government for any diplomatic failures that place South African livelihoods at risk. **OUR MESSAGE IS CLEAR: SOUTH AFRICAN WORKERS MUST NOT BECOME HOSTAGES TO POLITICAL POWER GAMES!** We will not remain silent while the livelihoods of ordinary South Africans are placed in jeopardy. South Africa needs leadership, not excuses. We need economic solutions, not political games. We need dignity, not intimidation. **Truth. Justice. Accountability. Solidarity.** Issued by:\ **TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT**

MEDIA STATEMENT # MEDIA STATEMENT ## TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT ### 8 OCTOBER 1993: FIVE YOUNG LIVES STOLEN — APARTHEID'S CRIMES MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTEN **Issued by: Truth and Solidarity Movement (TRUTH)** **27 October 2026** The Truth and Solidarity Movement remembers with profound sadness the five children and teenagers who were killed during an apartheid-era South African Defence Force (SADF) raid on a home in Northcrest, Mthatha, on 8 October 1993. Mzwandile Mfeya (12), Sandiso Yaso/Yose (12), twin brothers Samora Mpendulo (16) and Sadat Mpendulo (16), and Thando Mthembu (17) were children with lives to live, dreams to pursue and families who loved them. They were killed while sleeping in their beds. **Five young lives. Five stolen futures. Five families left with unbearable grief.** According to the account of the incident, the military raid targeted a home belonging to the Mpendulo family on the basis of intelligence alleging that it was being used as an Azanian People's Liberation Army (APLA) arms cache and transit facility. The operation was reportedly authorised by then-State President F.W. de Klerk and the State Security Council. These allegations and the circumstances surrounding the raid demand careful historical scrutiny and an unflinching commitment to truth. No family should have to carry the pain of losing children while the country struggles to confront the full legacy of apartheid-era state violence. ### APARTHEID WAS NOT JUST A SYSTEM OF DISCRIMINATION — IT WAS A SYSTEM OF STATE VIOLENCE The Truth and Solidarity Movement condemns the killing of children and the use of military power in circumstances that cost innocent young people their lives. The deaths of these five children stand as a painful reminder of the human cost of apartheid and the devastating consequences of decisions made by those who exercised political and military authority. We reject any attempt to erase these victims from South Africa's history. Their names must be remembered, their families treated with dignity, and the circumstances of their deaths preserved for future generations. ### OUR DEMANDS The Truth and Solidarity Movement calls for: 1. **Historical truth:** A transparent public record of the raid, the intelligence used to justify it, and the decisions that led to the operation. 2. **Accountability:** Continued scrutiny of the roles and responsibilities of those involved, consistent with the available evidence and the law. 3. **Dignity for the victims:** Recognition of the five children and meaningful engagement with their surviving families and communities. 4. **Education and remembrance:** The inclusion of this tragedy in South Africa's historical memory so that future generations understand the human cost of apartheid. 5. **Justice without discrimination:** A country in which every life matters and no family is denied dignity because of its race, class or political circumstances. ### WE REMEMBER. WE MOURN. WE DEMAND JUSTICE. To the families of Mzwandile Mfeya, Sandiso Yaso/Yose, Samora Mpendulo, Sadat Mpendulo and Thando Mthembu: your children must never be reduced to footnotes in history. Their names deserve to be spoken, their lives deserve to be remembered, and their deaths deserve the fullest possible historical examination. South Africa cannot build genuine reconciliation on silence, selective remembrance or the denial of suffering. Reconciliation requires truth, acknowledgement, accountability and respect for every victim. The Truth and Solidarity Movement stands for a South Africa in which the lives of children are protected, state power is accountable, and the pain of families is never dismissed. **Never forget the five children of Northcrest. Never forget the victims of apartheid. Never surrender the pursuit of truth and justice.** *May their memories endure, and may their families find strength and peace.* **TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT** *Truth. Justice. Solidarity.*

The loss of a member of the South African Police Service is a tragedy not only for the family and colleagues of the deceased, but for the entire nation. **WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR EUNICE NORTMAN!** TRUTH strongly condemns the continuing violence and criminal attacks affecting South African communities and law-enforcement personnel. If criminal violence caused Officer Nortman's death, those responsible must be identified, arrested, prosecuted and held fully accountable under South African law. We call upon the Minister of Police, SAPS national leadership and relevant investigative authorities to: 1. Conduct an urgent, independent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Officer Nortman's death. 2. Identify and arrest all perpetrators where evidence of criminal conduct exists. 3. Ensure that the investigation is transparent and that the family receives regular updates. 4. Strengthen protection for police officers and intelligence personnel. 5. Provide appropriate support to the bereaved family and colleagues. ### OUR MESSAGE IS CLEAR: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! A family home deal has turned into a serious court case involving former eThekwini DA councillor Ismail Cassimjee. The State accuses Cassimjee and his co-accused, Thamothran Junior Raman, of fraud and theft linked to alleged property and vehicle scams totalling about R1.5 million. One of the cases involves Cassimjee’s sister and brother in law, who allegedly lost R612,000 in a deal to buy a house in Malvern. Prosecutors say the properties were not for sale and the accused had no authority to sell them. His sister, brother-in-law and other complainants have testified in court, while one complainant died before giving evidence. Cassimjee took the stand in the Durban Regional Court and told the court he believed Raman had a contact who knew about properties going on auction. He said he received R15,000 per deal as a facilitator’s fee. These are serious allegations, but accusations are not proof of guilt, and the court must weigh the evidence before reaching a verdict. The case is expected to continue on 30 October, when further questioning is due. For now, the facts must speak louder than political titles, family ties or public opinion. Justice means accountability where wrongdoing is proved, and fairness until then. #ForeverYenaNews #SouthAfricanNews #JusticeAndAccountability

# TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT ## OFFICIAL PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA STATEMENT **15 OCTOBER 2026** ### ESHOWE TRIPLE MURDER: TRUTH AND SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FROM BOXER AND CALLS FOR A NATIONWIDE SAFETY INVESTIGATION **Issued by President MEHMET VEFA DAG** President of the Truth and Solidarity Movement Mayoral Candidate for the City of Cape Town ### THREE WOMEN KILLED — CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY CANNOT BE OPTIONAL The Truth and Solidarity Movement expresses its deepest condolences to the families of three female managers reportedly murdered at a Boxer store in eShowe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday, 10 October 2026. According to reports, a former employee allegedly produced a firearm during or following an internal disciplinary process, confined the managers in an office and fatally shot them. This horrific incident demands urgent criminal investigation, justice for the victims and a thorough examination of workplace security arrangements. **THREE WOMEN WENT TO WORK. THREE WOMEN NEVER RETURNED HOME. THIS MUST NEVER BE TREATED AS BUSINESS AS USUAL.** ### OUR DEMANDS **1. IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION OF BOXER'S WORKPLACE SECURITY** We demand an independent examination of the security arrangements, emergency procedures, access controls and risk assessments at the eShowe store. **2. NATIONWIDE BOXER SAFETY AUDIT** We call upon the Department of Employment and Labour to conduct an urgent inspection programme across Boxer stores throughout South Africa, prioritising facilities where credible safety concerns have been identified. **3. SUSPENSION OF OPERATIONS WHERE SERIOUS SAFETY FAILURES ARE IDENTIFIED** We demand that authorities issue immediate prohibition notices or order temporary closures at Boxer premises where investigations establish an imminent danger to workers, as permitted by law. Where systemic failures are established, we will call for wider operational suspensions until adequate safeguards are implemented. **4. JUSTICE FOR THE THREE MURDERED WOMEN** We demand that SAPS prioritise the investigation, locate the suspect and ensure that all available evidence is preserved for prosecution. **5. ACCOUNTABILITY FROM BOXER'S NATIONAL LEADERSHIP** Boxer's senior management must publicly explain what security measures existed at the eShowe store, whether any threats had previously been reported, and what immediate protections are being introduced for employees. **6. SUPPORT FOR THE VICTIMS' FAMILIES** We call for meaningful financial assistance, counselling, trauma support and appropriate compensation through all applicable legal mechanisms. ### PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION "South African workers are human beings, not disposable labour. No woman should leave her home to earn an honest living and lose her life in a workplace. Boxer's national leadership must face serious questions about employee protection. Expressions of sympathy are not enough. We demand transparent answers, independently verified safety improvements and accountability wherever negligence is established. We will not accept commercial convenience being placed above human life. Our message is clear: **NO SAFETY, NO BUSINESS.**" ### FINAL POSITION The Truth and Solidarity Movement calls for urgent nationwide regulatory scrutiny of Boxer operations and lawful temporary shutdowns wherever serious and immediate threats to workers are identified. The Movement further demands swift justice for the three murdered women and meaningful protection for employees throughout South Africa. **ISSUED BY:** **PRESIDENT MEHMET VEFA DAG** Truth and Solidarity Movement **JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS • SAFETY FOR WORKERS • ACCOUNTABILITY FOR EMPLOYERS**
