Congratulations Tooro, for before our eyes, we have seen the cultural journey of Kingship. Congratulations H.M Nyabongo I
Some people go to church every Sunday and still spend Monday to Saturday making other people’s lives miserable. They pray loudly, sing beautifully, quote Scripture effortlessly... then quietly become the source of someone else’s tears.
Thinking of my dearly beloved departed elder sister Nancy Kangwagye Mwesigwa on her birthday. She'd have been 53 today.🤍🕯
I miss you every day Nancy 🕊

EXCLUSIVE: The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a landmark resolution designating November 27 as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, following sustained advocacy by Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. @FirstLadyBio.
The resolution marks a significant step in global efforts to protect girls from child, early and forced marriage. Attention now turns to implementation, including national legislation, enforcement and community-level action.
In an exclusive interview with @GlobalAfricaHQ , guest host @BusieMatsiko sits down with Dr. Bio to discuss the significance of the resolution and, critically, what must happen next.
The conversation examines how governments can turn international commitments into meaningful protection for girls, the challenges of enforcement, and what this resolution could mean for Sierra Leone, Africa and the world. The resolution has been adopted. Now comes the work of turning commitment into action.
Watch or listen exclusively on Global Africa Brief as Dr. Fatima Maada Bio discusses the road ahead and the global responsibility to ensure that every girl has the right to her childhood, her choices, and her future.

Be someone who lifts others up. The world already has enough critics.

UGANDA IS A PAN-AFRICAN NATION.
Uganda is home to over 1.2 million South Sudanese, alongside hundreds of Congolese, Burundians, Rwandans, Somalis, Eritreans, Ethiopians, Kenyans, Nigerians and many other African nationalities.
Our message is clear: no African nationality should be victimised simply because of where they come from. NEVER.
Under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Uganda has consistently championed African solidarity, regional integration and peaceful coexistence. Pan-Africanism remains a central ideological principle of the NRM and an essential foundation of the East African integration project.
We believe in the free and orderly movement of people, goods, services and capital within the framework of our regional laws and protocols.
As Pan-Africanists, we shall continue to stand for the dignity of our African brothers and sisters.
Africa belongs to Africans. Our diversity must be our strength, not a reason for division.
NO TO XENOPHOBIA. YES TO PAN-AFRICANISM. YES TO EAST AFRICAN INTEGRATION.

Some people put their ideas out in the world and hope they catch on. Not Gloria Steinem.
Through her writing, her speeches, and her organizing, she demanded that the world pay attention to all the ways that women had been — and in some cases, still are — treated unfairly. And she helped awaken us to problems like domestic violence, the lack of affordable child care, and unfair hiring practices that had too often been ignored or overlooked.
Gloria really was larger than life. Today, generations of women are walking a little taller and aiming a little higher because of what she fought for and achieved. Michelle and I are thinking of her family today, and everyone — women and men — who were inspired by her towering example.

What a beautiful tribute from Meghan to her beautiful friend and mentor, Gloria Steinem. Rest In Peace.💔🥺
“Celebrating the life and legacy of my friend and mentor, Gloria Steinem, and also grateful to know that in these last few weeks and days she knew exactly how loved and admired she was.
You all know her many accolades and the way in which she helped shape the world for women and all people - "we are linked, not ranked" she would tell me, and the bracelet she gave me said exactly that. I still wear it with pride […] Rest in peace, and rest in pride. Look at what you've done for all of us. Thank you.”

Before you call it submission, understand the culture.
In Buganda, okufukamira is a traditional way a Muganda woman shows respect. It is not about being lesser. It is about honoring people, tradition, and the values passed down through generations.
And for the man being knelt to, it is not simply about power. It is about responsibility. To receive such respect means leading with humility, protecting with integrity, and proving worthy of the honor given to you.
Thank you my daughter Linda Namayanja for demonstrating Buganda humility and culture through this gesture.
In Buganda, leadership is not simply taken. It is earned. Respect flows both ways.
In this case @LindaMpanga knelt before me to honor tradition, not to diminish herself. I receive that honor not as permission to rule over her, but as a reminder of my duty and responsibility.
Sometimes you cannot understand a cultural gesture by looking at it through another culture's lens. You have to understand what it means to the people who practice it.

.@edtabaro: We have only 100 psychiatrists in Uganda and some of them are retiring. 33% of our population needs psychiatric intervention and alcohol abuse is one of the leading causes.
