Bombi and Brutus are besotted with Keeper Peter. On this day, they accompanied Peter to the orphaned elephants’ midday milk feed, as is their habit. Brutus and Bombi may also be scheming to steal a sip or two of the orphaned elephants’ milk bottles..! We are best known for our work with orphaned elephants and rhinos, but our family is so much bigger and more varied. Over the years, we have rescued a wonderful patchwork of creatures, including impalas, buffaloes, ostriches, hippos, waterbucks, bush babies, Egyptian geese, giraffes, and ground and tree squirrels. Please read and share. Thank you, @Mariam__Lambert A detailed report soon.
‼️ Urgent: the situation in Oleshky. The power of social media is real. Whether through X, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp or Viber, people can speak for themselves and share the truth; even when politicians try to obscure the reality. This is the message I received this morning from Oleshky: “Yes, it’s all a staged show. They’re cleaning all the streets, painting the curbs, and sprucing everything up for the cameras. They’re trying to create a pretty picture in the middle of hell. Meanwhile, the Russian military is demining everything and carrying ammo and supplies to their positions — and soon all of that will be flying toward Kherson ((( The number of troops in the city has increased dramatically, there are so many of them...” Please reshare and let those people speak up! @ZarinaZabrisky @anneapplebaum @CaolanReports

Have you ever heard the 'kee-yaa' calls of a buzzard, soaring over farmland and woodland? This clip captures a moment of calm for the magnificent bird of prey, as it rests by a beck.

❗️Today, Russian forces struck a railway station platform in Dnipro, where a train carrying civilians was present. According to preliminary reports, 13 people have been killed and many others injured. Emergency services are working at the scene, providing assistance to those affected. These attacks are yet another horrific example of ongoing crimes against Ukraine and its people. My condolences to the families of those killed. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.

When mangroves thrive, biodiversity thrives with them. Here is a beautiful glimpse of a golden jackal chilling in Muthupet, one of Tamil Nadu’s largest mangrove forests. Dominated by Avicennia marina, the grey mangrove, this beautiful landscape of lagoon, creeks and mangrove forests shelters a remarkable diversity of life and is birder's paradise #biodiversity #goldenjackal #Mangroves

Seems that the real world has finally caught up with little boy Boam Investigations, carried out ahead of the meetings, concluded Boam failed to treat former council monitoring officer Lauren Haslam with respect and, seperately, brought the authority into disrepute with posts about a row over bus routes. Boam has denied breaching the code of conduct and called the complaint process "a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money". Council reports said Boam had declined to apologise in both cases, or engage with the investigations. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckg5…

Every step she took felt like she was walking through agony. She arrived at our shelter late night after almost eight hours on the road. When she stepped down from the vehicle, her front legs seemed to fold beneath her. Her knees buckle with every step, and watching her try to walk honestly felt like someone was stamping on my heart. What have we become, that an animal can be allowed to reach this state? This beautiful older mare was found by our wonderful supporters Mr and Mrs Imran Khan. While Imran was visiting Pakistan from the UK, he found her tied outside — exposed to the heat, rain and weather, often without proper food or water. He pleaded with the owner. He argued. He tried everything. In the end, the only immediate way he could get her out was to buy her. She was not fit to make the long journey to us then, so Imran kept her at his home, arranged treatment and cared for her until she was strong enough to travel. Before returning to the UK, he arranged for her to come to TAWF. And now she is finally here. ❤️ Tomorrow morning we are sending her bloods for testing. She has arthritis, but I am especially concerned about the way her front knees bend and buckle when she walks. To my equine-experienced followers: I would really value your thoughts and experience on what you would want investigated in a mare presenting like this. Our veterinary team will of course make the medical decisions, but your experience is always valuable to us. And I need another bit of advice. She appears to be around 25 years old — very similar in age to our completely blind boy, Lucky Star. Lucky Star has a large, comfortable area with soft ground, which would also suit her beautifully. Would older horses like these generally benefit from companionship in the same space, provided introductions are done carefully? Or would you keep them beside one another but separated at first? We would, of course, make sure there was no possibility of breeding. And finally… this beautiful girl needs a name. ❤️ What should we call her? Please SHARE her story too. She has already spent far too many years unseen. 🌐 Donate: tawf.org.uk/donate

🚨 A sheep farmer has been left facing losses of about £23,000 after 53 lambs were killed and another 14 seriously injured in a dog attack in Wigan. Steven Blacklidge said he was 'horrified' after being told police would not authorise further enquiries, citing insufficient evidence and budget pressures, despite new livestock worrying laws coming into force earlier this year. Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed an investigation is underway and said it is taking the incident 'incredibly seriously'. Read the full story: ow.ly/SONj5101pol

I've made a simple leaflet that you can print out and pop in the letterbox of any house you see using this terrible stuff: tinyurl.com/HalloweenHedgeho… Most people have no idea that it's so dangerous, or that they are risking the lives of our precious wildlife.

Breakfast for up to 200? In the dry season, it happens at Ithumba. It’s not just our ex-orphans and their families who stop by either. We’re known on the wider ‘elephant grapevine’, and wild herds with babies and big bulls come to visit too. In the dry season, congregations of up to 200 elephants have gathered at our Ithumba Reintegration Unit in Tsavo East! Knowing how many wild visitors we get, our catering staff (AKA our incredible Keepers) always leave out plenty of lucerne hay, while the water trough is fed by a nearby borehole with its own desalination plant to boot. In fact, the dry season one of the busiest times of year for our conservation teams. Discover why in our archival Field Notes article: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/n…

🚜❤️ Rescuing a sick MASTIN with a tractor might seem like the complicated part, but actually, finding a home for these gentle giants is even harder! 😂 We’re absolutely thrilled that Tractor Trev and Berto, a beautiful Galgo, left today for their new homes in the UK! 🇬🇧❤️ Even Hei-Wa was feeling a little emotional! 🐶 We’re just not sure whether it’s because he feels guilty for chasing Tractor Trev all the time, or because now he’s got nothing to do! 😂🚜 A huge thank you to Susie, Jenny and all the home checkers for their amazing work in finding these dogs wonderful homes in the UK. ❤️🐾 Please enjoy the video, because this certainly wasn’t your everyday rescue! 🚜❤️

So... It's either starve to death or become russians for the Ukrainian people? Sounds familiar.
🚨 FT: Residents of occupied Oleshky seeking evacuation would be taken to Crimea or Russia instead of Ukrainian-controlled territory just across the Dnipro River. This is a terrifying warning sign. Russia is preparing to turn an evacuation into a deportation operation. It will exploit people’s desperation for a propaganda stunt, put them through filtration camps, and forcibly keep them under Russian occupation, where they would remain in grave danger.

Kherson. Ceasefire. A rare walk through just one part of the city. The scale of destruction must be seen and known. Usually, we cannot walk here because of the drones infesting the skies—so this is hidden. This is a European city. 2026.
