U.S. Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose urged all sides to “take a deep breath” as the confrontation over Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal escalated. He called it “an unprecedented confrontation over the government’s use of state power and the independence and authority of a constitutional institution,” said both sides “offer sharply different accounts,” saying “it is not our place to judge or interfere.”
He added that Poland’s “strength ultimately must come from within,” and called on officials, police and demonstrators not to “provoke violence or further escalation.”

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center has issued a warning after receiving a report that a tanker was attacked by an unknown projectile while transiting outbound in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman. This is the second reported incident today, and one of more than two dozen since the first of the month reported to UKMTO.
