Star Trek fans rightly love the warp drive and the transporter. But I continue to believe that what society needs more than anything out of Trek is a phaser with a stun setting. Here you see a case where a Taser was employed, failed and followed by a pistol.
"The ship is going down. The lifeboat seats 30 safely."
"Put 60 people in it. You can solve the sinking problem faster with more people."

Saving 1-2 billion people from starvation is good regardless of whatever bullshit culture war fumes you are huffing.
But if you must frame it that way: We are more likely to win the stars with 1-2 billion more people (and their descendants) to help solve the problem of how.
Neat. So, I'm left to wonder: can I sign up for the service, and if so, how will they react if I hook their system up to drones and launch my own private war with them?
The Luftwaffe considered using solid rocket-boosted "trolleys" to launch the ME 163 Komet. This would have saved the onboard liquid rocket propellants, but would have added considerable complexity to launch ops.

"Zenith Star" space-based laser demonstrator for the SDI program. It would have required heavier launch capability than the Shuttle... Shuttle-C, the "Zenith Star Launch System," Barbarian Booster, etc. And it was *small* compared to an operational SBL.

I question both the intelligence and the sanity of people who think that you have to either accept infinite third world immigration and cultural collapse, or you're not allowed to write down recipes.
What in the hell.
I recall no star. Google images now shows stars in abundance.
Aaaaaarrrrgh. I gotta look in my books.
A new Mandela Effect is rising.
Since when does the Soviet flag carry a star above the hammer and sickle?
Many of us remember it clearly without one.
If you recall the flag without the star… you may be from the old Earth.
Shifted into this denser, clown-world timeline.
The memory itself is the proof.
The body knows.
The soul knows.
We are not crazy.
We are remembering.
I miss the old Earth too.
Yet we are here now to hold the Light and anchor a higher one.
Who else feels this?
Generation ships raise no more moral issues than Polynesians hopping on boats to seek out some new island, or Swedish families trekking to South Dakota, or even Somalis fraudstering their way into Minneapolis. Every decision you make is one for your descendants.

Generational ships raise serious moral issues. Later generations never chose to live their entire lives and die confined on a ship floating in space. That is a violation of free will. Roughly 16 generations would be sentenced to life in prison for no crime other than being born.
I support videos like this. Why? Because we've seen them before. Several years ago many wholly useless people kept posting "my day at ConGlomMegaFaceTokTwitCorp" vids, resulting a *massive* rounds of layoffs and firings. History rhymes, baby. Bring one the next verse.
A "Eurospace economist" decides that testing an all-new capability - delivering supplies to the surface from orbit - is "pointless."
This might explain why Europe is so far behind SpaceX (Falcon/Starlink) and why so many of them want to appropriate SpaceX.
Ten years ago the utterly forgettable - and forgotten - SyFy show "Hunters" ended its 1-season run on a cliffhanger. The one memorable thing in the show? The Orion nuclear pulse vehicle the stranded aliens were building in Mexico.
Anybody ever see more on the design?
Damn. Be seeing you, Mr. Bester.
Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the original “Star Trek” series and seven “Star Trek” feature films, has died at 90.

The obvious question is "punched through into what?" The obvious followup question is "what will come spilling out?" Deep Ones? Cthulhu? Atlanteans? Demons? Shoggoths?
I've said it before: if you are an American businessman and someone tries this chiseling nonsense on something you've declared "firm," just tack on an extra 5%, $5, whatever, to the price each time they try to talk you down.
I'm sure this sort of thing will go for towards lowering the cost of dental care, or whatever the hell those "students" are protesting about.
