This one is personal for me.
For years, I didn’t understand why I felt the way I did. Why I was always on alert. Why certain situations could overwhelm me. Why I struggled with trust, rest, relationships, and feeling safe.
I thought there was something wrong with me.
There wasn’t.
I was surviving what I had learned to survive.
CPTSD deserves more understanding, more compassion, and far more awareness.
So this September, I’m going to talk about it. Honestly. Openly. Without shame.
If you have CPTSD, or think you might, I want you to know this:
You are not broken. You are not too sensitive. You are not too much.
You survived. And you deserve to heal. 💜

A diagnosis of CPTSD or any of its symptoms, including flashbacks, toxic shame, depression, suicidal ideation, and anxiety is not a sign of weakness.
The fear of labeling and judgment should not keep survivors from admitting they need help and getting the treatment they deserve.

Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is one of the most misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and overlooked mental health conditions that exists. And the cruelest part is that the people who have it often spend years, sometimes decades, not knowing what it is. Not knowing that what they are experiencing has a name. Not knowing that their responses make sense.
