IRDAI is proposing one of the biggest resets to insurance distribution in years.
My read after going through the consultation paper:
What's good:
1. Distribution had become too expensive. Insurer premiums grew, but commissions and rewards grew much faster. This needed correction.
2. Mis-selling incentives need to go. Rewards, incentives and payments disguised under other heads should not influence what gets recommended to a customer.
3. Insurers need to become more efficient. Lower expense ratios should ideally mean more value going back to policyholders.
What worries me:
The regulation treats very different distribution models similarly.
A bank already owns the customer relationship.
An agent has a relatively light cost structure.
A broker has a ₹75L net worth requirement, PI insurance, compliance and audit costs, technology costs, advisory teams, servicing and claims infrastructure.
Most of these costs don't reduce because commissions do.
So if revenues fall substantially, something else has to.
For us, that means figuring out how to become dramatically more efficient without compromising the parts of the business we care about most: advice, servicing and claims.
I agree with the problem IRDAI is trying to solve.
I'm less convinced that every distributor should be solved for in the same way.

When a business announces its QIP at peak valuations without backing it with fundamentals, it's not confidence, but it's a caution for investors with a mask of ambitious management.
Many companies drive their QIP during extreme bull markets,
Reason - Elevated Price that can attract investors.
What to watch for ?
In which phase of business market valuations, is a QIP typically announced?
Poor Market response: A quick reality check.
No growth or vision? Then it's not leadership, its liquidation.
This isn't about fueling growth.
It's about locking in gains before gravity kicks in.
Valuation without validation is just vapor.

Financial advisor Prem Soni has sparked debate with a post on X arguing that many Indian parents are holding on to what he calls a "poverty mindset" long after building substantial wealth.
Soni wrote that Indian parents will sit on crores in real estate and fixed deposits yet still haggle over small amounts, calling it a mindset they are "terrified to outgrow" rather than middle-class values.
He argued that they get angry at their children's spending on convenience because it makes their own decades of frugality look pointless.
Soni said parents are "temporary custodians" of wealth, not permanent owners, and that the time to use it now belongs to the next generation.

That’s exactly when risk gets ignored.

I got a call that reminded me exactly why I moved from just coaching people in the gym to advising startup founders.
It was from the founder of a protein food company I’ve been advising for the past few months. When we started our weekly calls, the situation was grim. He had a world-class product, but he was hitting the FMCG brick wall: high burn, clogged distribution, and a bank balance that was starting to look like a countdown clock.
In the Indian startup ecosystem, “advice” is usually a polite way of saying, “I’ll look at your deck and give you three adjectives.” But on the ground, especially in impulse and health categories, distribution sells the products, not the slide deck.
We started looking at the unit economics of the shelf.
Over the last few months, our weekly calls were about small targets to achieve. I opened the distribution channels they couldn’t crack, fixed the leaks in their supply chain, and once the ground reality was solid, connected them to investors.
Today, that trajectory has completely changed. He called me just to say, “Chirag, I don’t think we’d still be in business if it weren’t for you. You’ve fundamentally changed the future of this company.”
The truth is, being an advisor in India isn’t about being a “mentor” on a pedestal. It’s about being a partner who actually opens doors. Advice is cheap, but distribution and operational support are the real currency.

Be honest with urself for a minute,
If you are in stock market for 5+ years and still struggle with
• Identifying real opportunity
• Picking a stock with confidence
• Having ur own clear system
• Knowing the difference between trade and a longterm investment
then chances are, you will always depend on someone else tips, tweets or recommendations to survive in the market for rest of ur life.
Most of us come from middle class families. No safety net. No backup capital. Just one salary and a lot of responsibilities.
We did not enter the market for time pass. We came here to build a second skill. A second source of growth. Something beyond the job.
So ask yourself honestly. Are you actually learning ? Or just buying what others are posting, hoping it works ?
That realization hits hard, but its also powerful.
Because its not too late if you have atleast recognised it now. Start fixing the gaps.
Learn how to think, not what to buy. Build your own process. Fail, make mistakes, lose small, reflect deeply.
Failures are not the problem. Staying dependent is.
The best lessons in the market come from your own errors, not someone else success.
Start now. Start ASAP.
Your future self is counting on this decision.

Most drawdowns don’t destroy portfolios.
Confusion does.
When you are clear on which one is a swing, which one is positional bet and which are all longterm investments,
decision making stays clear on managing portfolios.
A swing trade is not positional or long term ❌
A positional investment can turn long term based on situation and timeframe ⏳📊
Long term investing is a different game altogether, driven by deeper analysis, not just charts or technicals.
If the entry is based on technicals or shortterm signals, it’s a trade and must have an exit. Holding or averaging down doesn’t make it long term or ensure recovery.
Long term investors see the full picture, so drawdowns add clarity. They turn volatility into opportunity, making declines attractive discounts to average into.
Trade = Renting 🏠💸
Investing = Ownership 🏡📈
Clarity in classification = control in drawdowns.

🚨 Every Car Owner in India Needs to Read This @volklub
India’s petrol is quietly changing from E10 to E20 and it’s already damaging engines, especially in cars built before April 2023.
Right now, only Maruti has an official package to protect you… but truth is, every manufacturer should have one.
Let’s break it down 🧵
1️⃣ The Fuel Shift No One Prepared You For
E10 = 10% ethanol in petrol
E20 = 20% ethanol
India wants most pumps to sell E20 by 2025.
The catch?
Pre-2023 cars weren’t designed for this blend.
2️⃣ Why This is a Problem for ALL Brands
Ethanol attracts water and is more corrosive.
Older engines face:
Damaged fuel pumps & injectors
Corroded seals & hoses
ECU malfunctions
Insurance? ❌ Won’t cover it.
3️⃣ The Danger Has Already Arrived
Pumps are mixing E10, E15, E20 without clear labelling
Flood season + ethanol fuel = hydrostatic lock nightmares
Service centers across brands are quietly handling more engine damage cases
4️⃣ Why Only Maruti Owners Have an Edge
Maruti sells something called CCP (Customer Convenience Package) most owners don’t even know it exists.
It covers:
✅ Engine failure from bad fuel ( adultrated fuel )
✅ Water damage from flooding
✅ Rodent damage (in Plus variant)
5️⃣ How Cheap This Actually Is
Starts at ₹1,999/year (~₹6/day).
Comes in 3 variants:
CCP Fuel
CCP Hydro
CCP Plus (Fuel + Hydro + Rodents)
It’s basically AppleCare for your car hidden inside your service booklet.
6️⃣ Real Claims Already Paid Out
Engine seizure from adulterated petrol
Water in engine after flooding
Rats chewing through fuel hoses
Without CCP? That’s ~ ₹30K–₹70K gone in a blink.
7️⃣ This Shouldn’t Be Just Maruti’s Game
If ethanol-blend damage is a nationwide risk, then Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Tata, Mahindra all should have similar packages.
Until then, Maruti owners have a safety net. The rest? One bad tank or one flood away from a massive bill.
Protect Yourself Now
If your car is:
🚗 Made before April 2023
🌧 Used in a flood-prone area
⛽ Dependent on unknown fuel pumps
Get covered whether through your brand (if they offer it) or push them to start.
Because once the engine’s gone, no one’s bailing you out.

Every few years, the world reminds us of our place. A threat here, a tariff there. But the message is the same: stay in your lane, India.
Global powers will always bully us, unless we take our destiny in our own hands. And the only way to do that is if we collectively decide to become the world's largest most unapologetic superpower in the world. In economy, in technology, in defense, and most importantly, in ambition.
There is absolutely no other way.
