ix how fast EVs depreciate and then we'll tak
It's really no wonder EVs are increasing in market share: they're incredibly efficient!

it's crazy how accurate this is, nobody cares about preventing huge issues (same is true in real world politics and goverment)
Many engineers should be doing less work. I don’t necessarily mean producing less code or fewer changes, but literally working fewer hours in the day. When they do work, they should be working at a slower pace.

turns out ux design is a lot harder that it seems, huge respect to the designers out there

Just tried running stupid simple prompt on a Qwen 9B model locally on my 16gb M1 MacBook Pro and painfully understand why there’s a cpu memory and gpu shortage

this is the type of intel we deserve to know before making the biggest purchase of our lives or committing to a 12mo lease
Remember the Starbucks effect? It's faded: homes near a Starbucks are worth just 16% more than otherwise similar places. Meet the Club Pilates effect: homes nearby are 64% higher.

it's insane how much alpha there is to just chatting people up for the hell of it
Jia Jiang is famous for trying to get rejected as much as possible for 100 days, and he mostly learned it's harder than you think to get rejected Things he tried: -Asking a stranger to borrow $100 -Asking for a "burger refill" at Five Guys -Asking to speak over the Costco intercom -Asking for Olympic ring-shaped donuts at Dunkin -Asking to plant flowers in a stranger's yard -Asking to ride in a police car -Asking to take a video of him playing soccer in someone's yard In most cases even if people said no they still at least tried to help him in some way, because the "no" was mostly about concrete constraints Rejection is rarer and typically far more gentle than you're expecting (CC: @JiaJiang)

this is exactly why I'm trying to delete your commute home-scout-yxp6.onrender.com…
Reminder not having a long commute is one of the biggest life upgrades. You never normalize against this, like you would a very good or very bad event (the commuting paradox, described in the Scandinavian Journal of Economics). Moving closer to work or going remote is worth it

i friction max eating meals for sure
I'm fascinated by the rise of frictionmaxxing as a response to a frictionless life. We engineer away inconvenience, only to discover that some of the friction we removed was part of what made life feel alive in the first place

procrastinating building out my side project for 7 years was the move, it's so much faster to build now it's actually insane

I'm trying ScreenZen to reduce time spent scrolling on the popular internet slot machines, so far it's working! Still haven't figured out what to do with that extra time though...

strava is the only one left
I feel like there's a huge opportunity for a "no algorithm" social media platform

bad news is that I realize my posture is worse than I originally expected good news is that I think my posture correcting app actually works I could only keep a good posture for about 12 out of 20 minutes.. my lower back is already sore

trying not to let better be the enemy of good here but I could do so much better with the "showing results" from a completed posture training session right now the only stats are a enigmatic bar that's 59% full I bet this makes no sense to most people but I am aware

rookie mistake #1 when trying to get promoted: - not writing down all the stuff you got done each week i am here --> rookie mistake #2 - not linking to concrete proof I got that stuff done
