This nation we all share was not founded on just one historical remit or about one single chapter of our past British colonial and post colonial legacy.

@bbcasiannetwork The truth our past didn’t want to tell or share with us. How much we progress as a people depends on how many of us want to build a nation for all of us against those who want to take our nation’s national diversity into hostile segregation and self interests.
History unfolds from more than one vantage point. We cannot afford to lose the entire breadth and scope of history by reflecting on just one single set of ‘approved’ historical accounts that gives us an incomplete or skewed picture of the truth.
What chance do any of us have to work together for all of our diverse people and communities when our history is founded on an abridged and highly edited account of what has brought us here today to be part of this great shared nation?

The mayor of London has officially opened the UK's first cinema dedicated to black and African filmmaking, in south London.
The venue, in Nine Elms, brings together film, food, fashion, art and music under one roof, celebrating black culture and creativity.

"When people talk about the need for Black Excellence I counter with an insistence on Black mediocrity: the right for black people to be as average, flawed, compromised & mistaken as any other group of people. The right, ultimately, to be human." R.I.P. Jason Arday

Bringing the International into the Conference. The Windrush years, its legacy, its reach and its historical significance to our UK cannot be underestimated.

It is not a historical footnote. It is in fact, the lifeblood of our existence that drives the heartbeat of our nation.

@10DowningStreet @ukhomeoffice @CliveFoster3 @DefendWindrush @JacquiMckenzie6 @ameliagentleman @DavidLammy There is a growing concern that in order to punish a select few 'rotten apple' citizens, our @UKParliament and #HomeOffice will be at risk of impacting past written laws.
May I ask why the criminal justice system in our nation still operates to date in the 21st Century by applying distinctive rule of laws for UK citizens dependant on Race. #RaceRelationsAct1976

@RhonddaBryant @ukhomeoffice Did anyone want to get back to me on this, please. Thank you.
