Vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives over the past 50 years. But this progress is under threat from funding cuts, conflicts, climate change and misinformation. With #measles outbreaks in dozens of countries, immunity gaps anywhere can threaten health security everywhere. At the same time, innovation offers new hope: malaria vaccines are being rolled out, promising tuberculosis vaccines are in development, and new Ebola vaccines against Bundibugyo virus are approaching trials. But vaccines only save lives when people can access and trust them. @WHO calls on governments, scientists, health workers, industry, technology companies and communities to work together to ensure everyone has access to accurate, evidence-based vaccine information. Everyone, everywhere, at every age deserves the protection vaccines offer. #VaccinesWork

Extreme heat can affect health before a child is even born. Heat exposure during pregnancy has been linked with preterm birth, stillbirth, low birth weight, and other complications. Better monitoring can help health systems identify emerging risks - and protect women during and after pregnancy as well as their babies. Learn more: bit.ly/4zLTLEh

Protect your baby from measles with 2 doses of measles vaccine. 1️⃣ In countries where measles is common, it is vital to give the first dose around 9 months of age; in other countries, at 12-15 months of age. 2️⃣ Give the second dose later in childhood to ensure full protection. Remember: Infants can be vaccinated around 6 months of age if there is an outbreak or before travel to endemic countries.

My sincere thanks to Republic of #Korea's President @Jaemyung_Lee for his warm welcome and 🇰🇷's steadfast partnership with @WHO. We discussed the WHO Biomanufacturing Training Hub in Seoul, which has trained over 4,000 professionals from 100 countries. It was an honour to inaugurate its first building yesterday, with the President's strong support. We also discussed harnessing AI for better health, including through today's Seoul Declaration on #AI in Healthcare, with a focus on equity in healthcare delivery and local production of medical products. Our discussions also covered the Pandemic Agreement negotiations on Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing, the #Ebola response in #DRC, and Korea's role in strengthening global preparedness and multilateral cooperation. xitter.cf/Jaemyung_Lee/status/21…

Nearly 59 million lives have been saved by the measles vaccine since the year 2000. Let that sink in. 59 million people — because of science.

Experiencing extreme heat during pregnancy is linked to higher risks for babies, including preterm birth, stillbirth, and low birth weight. Pregnant women may also face higher risks of high blood pressure. Children also can become ill during extreme heat. WHO, WMO, UNICEF and UNFPA have identified key indicators to help countries spot these risks using data they already collect — such as preterm births, clinic visits, deaths and school attendance — alongside heat exposure data. Measuring the health impacts of heat means, we can act sooner to protect those most at risk: bit.ly/4zLTLEh

Extreme heat can endanger lives before birth—and put pregnant women, newborns and young children at increasing health risk. This means higher odds of preterm birth, still birth, low birth weight, and cardiovascular complications during labour. For 1.5 billion children, heatwaves are becoming more frequent, lasting longer and growing more severe. WHO, WMO, UNICEF and UNFPA are helping countries make health impacts visible - so they can take action. Learn more: bit.ly/4zLTLEh

Honored to inaugurate the building of the @WHO Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing in Incheon, Republic of #Korea. The Hub has already trained more than 4,000 participants from more than 100 low and middle income countries, offering them hands-on skills that will help their home countries improve manufacturing processes and strength local production capacities. My gratitude to 🇰🇷 Health Minister @jeong_eunkyeong and the Korean Government for their substantial investment of $30 million in the Hub, to provide tuition-free health education. This commitment is key to reaching our common goal of living in a healthier world.

In paint. In dust. In soil. In water. In some ceramics, cosmetics, medicines, toys and jewelry. Lead exposure can come from more places than many people realize — which is why awareness must lead to action bit.ly/3TKEwwd

Nigeria has confirmed one imported case of #Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), becoming the fifth country to detect the virus since an outbreak of the disease was declared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on 15 May 2026. As per the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria (@Fmohnigeria): ▶️ The patient is a woman with a recent travel history to Uganda. ▶️ Her symptoms began on 7 October, four days after she arrived in Nigeria, and she sought care at a private health facility in Abuja on 11 October. ▶️ A laboratory test confirmed Bundibugyo virus on 20 October. ▶️ She is currently in isolation and receiving medical care. ▶️ Investigations are ongoing to establish the likely source of her infection and reconstruct her full travel and exposure history. The ministry, so far, reports that 44 contacts have been identified and are being monitored. Contact tracing is also underway. Rapid identification of cases, timely follow-up of contacts and effective infection prevention and control are critical to contain the spread of the virus. WHO and partners are working with health authorities to strengthen efforts to stop the virus from spreading. WHO urges all countries in the region to sustain a high level of readiness as the outbreak in the DRC continues to evolve. WHO advises against any restriction of travel to, or trade with, affected countries, and continues to closely monitor and, where necessary, verify travel and trade measures in relation to this event. WHO regularly reviews the latest information to update its assessment of the risks posed by the outbreak. Read the full press release: bit.ly/487wX60

A child may show no obvious symptoms even as lead affects brain development, learning and attention. That is why protecting children means acting early to prevent exposure before harm can occur, not simply detecting it afterward bit.ly/3TKEwwd

Miracle teas, magic gummies and “just grin and bear it”. Menopause advice is everywhere, and not all of it deserves your trust. WHO calls for menopause information and care that is grounded in evidence and shaped around women’s own needs, values and preferences. Before you try the latest quick fix, ask questions and check in with a trusted health provider or a credible health organisation.

It was my honour to address the @WHOWPRO Regional Committee one last time. But 10 months is still a long way to go and we can still do a lot together. So my asks for the health leaders of the region are: 1. Approve the next increase in assessed contributions at next year's World Health Assembly. 2. Consolidate the hard work we have done through the transformation, prioritization and realignment, to build a @WHO that is better positioned to serve Member States with neutrality, impartiality and integrity. 3. Engage actively in the reform of the global health architecture. Make sure it reflects the needs of this Region and puts countries at the centre. 4. Finalize negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex, so that the Pandemic Agreement can enter the ratification process and come into force. #RC77

Young children explore the world with their hands, their mouths and their bare feet. Lead-contaminated dust and soil can travel from floors and surfaces to little hands and into growing bodies. Protecting children starts by preventing exposure at the source.

Saying no to the things you love because there’s simply nothing left in the tank? You don’t have to just push through. Many women with bothersome menopause symptoms benefit from information, counselling, treatment or clinical support. If symptoms are getting in the way of your work, your relationships, your sleep, your mood or your peace of mind, speak to a health provider. Feeling more like yourself again is possible.
