This is an opportunity to have a discussion about putting retractable bollards in DowntownCrossing. As of today there’s nothing stopping another NewOrleans style attack. Would be great to have protection on Summer and Washington streets.

Today, I reached out to @MassStatePolice to ask why there’s been no arrest or if there’s a citation for the driver of a Mercedes SUV, who according to reports, lost control of his vehicle and struck and killed Newton cyclist John Corcoran on the sidewalk by the DeWolfe Boathouse.

Fort Point remains on track to lose both @MBTA #11 bus stops on A Street, despite the fact that the stops are widely used.
We received little support to keep them.
Loss of bus service will leave our elderly and disabled nearly a half-mile walk to the closest stop or station.
RT @walksf: Today, the @washingtonpost published an article about SB 961, the bill that would require a commonsense safety measure to alert…

95% of crashes are caused by drivers, which is why 95% of traffic safety PSAs should be targeted at drivers.
Use @NHTSAgov data before wasting your time on marketing campaigns about how to walk in public.

This is bad.....but equally a cyclist doing the same thing is also bad..... I am not sure what point you are trying to make - unless cyclists somehow aren't solid so on-coming traffic can pass straight through them with no other ramifications?

Oh no! Boylston St (green) has ONE less lane for cars! However will I drive from Mass Ave (red) to Downtown and the Common now?!?
City leaders thought it was absolutely imperative that they crowbar bike lanes onto Boylston Street, which was thriving without them. The whole thing now feels like a crowded, unkempt, chaotic mess, writes columnist Brian McGrory. trib.al/NwdrAVv

A city like Boston and cars just don't mix. It's extremely unsafe for people to drive cars on narrow, bustling city streets. The city government in Boston is BRAIN DEAD for allowing cars into the center city!

By the same exact argument… why do we need lanes for cars on Boylston, Comm Ave, Marlborough and Huntington all going in the same direction.

Boylston St has never had more than two functioning travel lanes. Drivers double/triple parking are the problem
