Yes. DQ's excuse for the incriminating shot of him saying "Field Goal" was essentially 'Oh it wasn't ME that was confused and didn't realize we couldn't kick a field goal, it was someone on the headset!' If true (and that's a big if) WHO IS THE DUMMY WE HAVE ON THE HEADSET THEN?
Even if Dan Quinn knew it was fourth down during a key first-half play on Monday night, his explanation exposes a different issue regarding an organizational failure to understand situational football. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

The 2026 #Commanders are the first NFL team to have a +6 turnover margin and a -40 scoring margin through the first six games of a season since… the 1980 Redskins. Washington fired head coach Jack Pardee after the 1980 season and hired future Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs
The Washington Commanders are tied for No. 1 in the NFL in turnover differential at +6 and yet are 1-4-1 with a point differential of -40. It takes a special kind of team to have a turnover differential that good and a record and a point differential that bad.

Dan Quinn's answer to @john_keim's question about what happened after the 4th down when he looked unaware of what down it was might be the most non-sensical combination of words ever strung together 😂 Here is the full answer transcribed word-for-word: "No I definitely knew it was 4th down. We were going for it and I was, I think what you're referring to, I was probably saying like 'With the illegal shift there's not a penalty to go for a field goal.' Like it doesn't go, like, it's the turn on downs. Like I think somebody had asked me 'Can we kick a field goal?' So no, we were going for it. We knew we had to go for some 4th downs to be bold in the game. I didn't think it was gonna be a 17-14 game. I prolly thought it was gonna need 28, 30 to score, y'know, to go win it. And so it was by design that we were gonna go. But um no I knew what happened. I think I was prolly just commenting that, I remembered, at least on the headset, somebody asked me and after illegal shift, um, like, it was turnover on downs. And Jayden saw the foul too I think. And he also came off, saw the penalty."

Running a Hail Mary on 2nd down with 20+ seconds still on the clock (when SF was getting consistent pressure every play) was something from Blough.
Another confusing route tree by David Blough at the end of the game. This play never had a chance. All #Commanders receivers running downfield and not working the middle of the field. There would have been plenty of time to clock it after. #RaiseHail

“Field goal. Oh, that was 4th down?” certainly looks like lip readers believe Dan Quinn was completely unaware that it was 4th down and wanted to kick a field goal 💀💀💀

When you're 3-13-1 in your last 17, it's never about just one or two games. But in addition to the end of game disaster last week, reading the tea leaves, there are some in the org. that thought Jayden was ready to play against the Colts in London the week before (including the QB himself), and they weren't thrilled with the overly conservative approach holding him out, especially given how that game went.
NFL Network insders on Dan Quinn's job security this morning.

Washington will be no more than 2 games back in the division regardless of tomorrow night's result.

Means he will be out Week 8 @ Washington...
Breaking: After consultations with numerous doctors and experts that went into Saturday, the #Eagles are placing quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, sources tell @AdamSchefter and me. Hurts is now out for the foreseeable future. More information coming…

Now that the dust has settled, what's crazy is, on paper, the #Commanders are not out of the NFC East race whatsoever. They technically GAINED a half game on both Dallas and Philly last week (a tie is better than a loss) and remain only two back of the Jameis Giants.

Just 18 months ago, Devin Neal was higher than Jacory Croskey-Merritt on virtually every 2025 big board out there FWIW. From @dpbrugler, who had a 4th Rd grade on him: "A four-year starter at Kansas, Neal was the featured weapon in offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes' RPO-based offense with both gap and zone principles. The Lawrence, Kan., native led the team in rushing all four seasons and set school records for rushing yards (4,343), rushing touchdowns (49), total touchdowns (53) and rushing games of 100 yards or more (20). With his square running style, Neal sees the field well and utilizes his patience, loose slides and timing to create mismanaged pursuit angles. Though not a burner, he is a great example that throttling speed is more important than sprinting speed at the running back position. Overall, Neal isn’t a punishing runner, but he consistently creates yardage with his pacing, wiggle and knack for setting up defenders. The two backs have very different body types, but Neal’s skill set is reminiscent of that of Kyren Williams."
Sources: The #Commanders are signing former #Saints  RB Devin Neal to their practice squad. A 5th-round pick last year, Neal totaled 310 yards and 2 TDs as a rookie.

Dyami Brown now has 3 fumbles in his last 6 games as a Commander btw. 11 catches, 3 fumbles. He is fumbling 1 out of every 4 times he touches the ball.
That's Dyami Brown's second fumble in his last 3 games as a Commander.

Quinn also indicated that the goal was to get a few more yards for the FG attempt. If that was the case, why were there receivers running so far down field? Why did they take so much time to snap it? Why did it involve play action? Lots of questions that still need answered.
I asked Terry McLaurin about the final play and if the offense knew they didn't have any timeouts left. Terry said, "we practice to try to maybe center the ball...obviously we didn't have it executed or communicated right, as an offense, because that's what happened."
