Henry Novak just didn’t know how privileged he was as he lay handcuffed on the floor dying, and in death as his phone was searched for ‘racisms’
That was the core issue here, Henry’s failure to acknowledge his privilege as the light faded

A cursory glance at the newspaper stand when at shops this morning and I saw the anguished faces of the parents of Henry Nowak . We absolutely must not forget their child and the circumstances of his needless loss

And some of you thought they were in support of the police.
Rest in peace, Henry.
Henry Nowak’s family have said they were “manipulated in our darkest hour” by police after his murder.
The 18-year-old’s family have said they felt “hoodwinked” by police in the immediate aftermath of his death and the weeks and months that followed.

There is something very rotten within our Police Service and I don’t say that lightly having worked closely with the Police Service, mainly very senior officers, many years ago.
Whilst the organisation was far from perfect the vast majority of officers were very efficient, effective and professional and I had the greatest respect for their professionalism.
Hampshire Police are a result of what has gone seriously wrong with the service. The police have forgotten who they are, who they serve, how they should serve and what their policing priorities should be.
It is truly sad to see what has been done to what was probably one of the most respected public services in this country.
Instead of protecting and serving the public without fear or favour they have become political tools, captured by ideology.
In the late 1990s they did need reforming with regard to equality and racism, and I was very proud to have played a small part in that reform, however, DEI has taken it too far in the opposite direction, to the point it is impacting on their ability to police fairly and serve the public equally and respectfully.
Instead of prioritising and focusing on actual crimes, crimes that impact on law abiding citizens and their local communities, they are trying to police thoughts and feelings, which should have no place in policing in a democratic society. The police should not be acting like playground monitors they should be out on the streets preventing and solving crimes, not monitoring a screen in the office.
Real crime and violence should be their focus and top priority.

Remember when party line on this was that we must ‘respect the family’s wishes’. Which, as usual, translated to mean: draw no conclusions at all that run counter to a liberal narrative. And yet…it looks like respecting the family’s wishes was not, in fact, the priority. Rather, while the rest of the country were being told to do that (as usual), the people doing the lecturing were literally doing the opposite.
I actually do agree that this case was to some extent weaponised by all different sides. But watching these self-appointed moral arbiters claim that they, alone, may decide what the ‘family’s wishes’ are, after every brutal crime that undermines their ideological line…if you’re still falling for that at this point, just give up.
As we can see here, they are often guilty of doing *exactly* what they falsely accuse their political opponents of.

The IOPC initially said there were “no concerns identified.”
Now two officers face a gross-misconduct investigation. Henry Nowak was murdered in cold blood. The very least his family deserved was the truth.
No more excuses. Release the full bodycam footage. Grieving families should not have to investigate the investigators.

🚨NEW HENRY NOWAK INFO🚨
Henry's family have revealed:
-The family were told that Henry was the aggressor.
-They were asked about his political views.
-They were not shown the bodycam footage.
-A press release was drafted, naming Henry, and describing him as the aggressor.

For people wondering what the police did, they lied to them saying Henry was the aggressor, then lied again about providing first aid immediately and then to top it all off in April the IOPC said they had no concerns with what the officers did….
Henry Nowak’s family were told there were 'no concerns' with officer conduct by the police watchdog, the IOPC.
In an exclusive interview with ITV News UK Editor @PaulBrandITV, the family says they were unaware of the contents of officers’ bodycam footage from the scene of the crime, which detailed the 'horrific' final moments of their son's life.
Speaking publicly for the first time, Henry's father, Mark and stepmother, Katie, said they only saw the video on the first day of the trial of their son's killer.

It’s absolutely horrific what the family of Henry Nowak has gone through.
BREAKING: The officers, Hampshire Police and the lawyers who handled Henry Nowak’s murder case, and tried to frame him as the aggressor as well as a racist, are in so much trouble - but it is surprising that matters are taking as long as they are. Perhaps there is a whistleblower involved now? (via @PaulBrandITV @ITVNews)

Shocking revelations from our interview include:
- Police originally called Henry the aggressor
- They asked the family their political views
- The IOPC said there was *no misconduct* before Henry’s family saw the video of the way police treated their son
- The family were only played the video on the first day of the trial

🔺As we approach the first anniversary of Henry Nowak’s death, his family speak out about police failures and their continuing fight for answers. Speaking in a ITV Tonight documentary tonight, the family state:
- Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary initially suggested Henry had been the aggressor, rather than his killer, Vickrum Digwa.
- They were told officers had immediately administered first aid, before police later acknowledged Henry had instead been handcuffed and arrested.
- The police watchdog, the IOPC, told them in April that there were “no concerns identified” regarding officers’ actions that night.
- They only saw the disturbing police bodycam footage of Henry’s arrest on the first day of Digwa’s trial.
Henry’s stepmother, Katie Nowak:“I do feel that we have been failed multiple times.”
Has anything changed at all since the Trial verdict?

Two days after Henry died Hampshire Police secretly recorded Digwa in a police van speaking Punjabi to his brother. Digwa admitted stabbing Henry. Discussed claiming self defence. Made zero mention of racial abuse. Not one word.
Hampshire Police had that tape.
They knew Digwa was lying about the racist attack. They had the evidence. They had his own words and then tried to smear Henry as the aggressor anyway.
Three days after his death their statement read “it was reported two men had been assaulted by an unknown man.” Henry was the unknown man. The boy bleeding out on the street. They flipped it.
Family complained. Statement changed. Then police told the family their NEXT update would again infer Henry was the initial aggressor. His family had to fight them a second time. While grieving their murdered son.
Then during the trial Hampshire tried to issue a statement telling the public to stop talking about it online. Calling it disinformation. The CPS had to step in. Told them they were about to collapse their own murder case.
This is the force that handcuffed a dying boy. Missed the murder weapon twice. Had a secret tape proving the killer lied. And still tried to bury Henry's name.
That's not incompetence. That's a machine protecting itself. At the expense of a dead boy's reputation and three officers are still on active duty. Not suspended. Treated as witnesses. To their own actions.
Hampshire Police didn't just fail Henry on that street. They kept failing him for six months after he died.
