people in my replies saying 'stop being so negative, be constructive, what would you change' etc etc, so to summarise things I've said across many different tweets over a very long time: 1) structural changes to bonding curves and liquidity post bond to fix the paper thin liquidity on coins deployed into pumpswap pools. 2) meaningful support from top brass on long-lasting, culturally important memecoin communities, both through comms and capital invested into (see glass full foundation, an initiative they abandoned as soon as they started it) to promote sustainable narratives. deeper liquidity would also prop up these coins to absorb volatility and not be subsumed by the diddy spiral, to borrow a term. 3) the severing of ties to extractive KOLs and serial deployers through their retainer scheme and those given pumpfun badges 4) reworking of callout payment scheme to stop funding KOLs who abuse it on incredibly short median hold times) - callout payments should be big for those who buy early, shill to an audience, and then hold it long term as it appreciates in value over longer timeframes. these are just a few of the meaningful changes in approach that would seriously help a positive pivot imo. the liquidity issue is the most egregious, and has been from the jump since they migrated away from raydium pools.

I think most new market participants misunderstand the reason for "HODL" culture. Its not because "Oh I want to share a big PNL to look cool for my internet friends." Its out of necessity. To win longterm in memecoins you need big wins. If you think about it logically its obvious... We are trading in the highest risk market to ever exist, meaning you are gonna lose... A lot.. So your wins need to be big to outweigh all the losses. "Thats not true look at [Insert Broccoli Headed Streamer]!" Oh you mean the guy who hasn't had a losing day in 472 days? You think is possible trading low cap memes without there being more to the story....? Yea that guy just woke up as the best trader to ever exist in the history of trading in any market and has a better win rate than any trader ever in any market despite trading in the highest risk market by miles. Use your brain please... You aren't going to emulate him, you are his yield 💀

shitposts aside, it's just a little sad what has happened here with the whole kimchi situation as a cherry on top of a larger cultural degredation under @Pumpfun i have had my issues with pumpfun for a long time: the rampant, low cost, low complexity, low friction one stop deploying shop, whilst perhaps inevitable, to be an anathema to the underlying precepts of crypto. it took everything that made crypto cool, interesting and alluring and turned it into a hyper expansive slop space. that being said, pumpfun should always get credit for creating a moat which has, for the large majority of the past 2 years, made them somewhat untouchable when it comes to onchain launches. when bonkfun came along last year and started criming utter garbage, with solporntom and bonkguy shilling soulless, vapid nonsense, i was an advocate of the 'culture' that pumpfun had been able to incubate and champion on their platform. we had the glass full foundation, we had large marketcap memecoins, we had both @a1lon9 and the pumpfun team at large highlighting communities building out onchain, putting money into and behind memecoins that actually attempted to build a brand, a concept or a funny idea. did i like all the memes they pushed? no, but who cares, everyone has their own taste and perspective, but pumpfun were genuinely the 'cool' launchpad, with an established, definable cultural rampart which set them apart from the rest. i remember alon was even interacting with these communities on a personal level, hopping into group chats, replying to x accounts regularly - there was a genuine excitement about memecoins in this sector on solana, despite the crest of the memecoin wave very much having been broken by trump earlier in the year. now look, i understand that pumpfun is a business and they both desire and need to expand their reach, continue evolving and serve new prospective customers. but what i want to understand is how is the current climate that they have incubated in pivoting away from communities, and into highly leveraged speculation on attention serving or benefitting customer retention? if every single coin has a single pump and dumps to zero with no chance of a second reincarnation, where is the incentive for people to stay and keep playing? people do not enter crypto because they want to make a lil piece of money on the side, they are trying to change their living conditions significantly. this doesn't NEED to be a reskin of stake, where everyone goes into it knowing implicitly they're going to lose over time, where the sellers of shovels are villainised as rapacious extractors. there's actually no cultural or business-based exceptionalism to this approach, and there is plenty of money to be made in concentrating the winners. otherwise why would somebody feel the need to stare at a black and green chart for hours to get a dopamine hit, when they can go and play a slot with all the bells and whistles that it comes with, or hit up a casino with the boys and spin a roulette wheel? the $kimchi disaster class reflects a loss of perspective for pumpfun in my opinion, an attempt to shift the needle so dramatically towards 'anticipating what a new audience might want', that it just throws the whole recipe off-kilter. my father used to preach a simple axiom to me: keep it simple, stupid. foster an environment wherein normal people can win, and they will become your biggest advocates to bring other people onchain to try and win big too. playing crash games on one day narratives, and glorifying scammers alienates your customer base long term.

I like kimchi when it's scattered on my 4 scrambled eggs with sourdough toast in the morning. I usually pair it with some cholula and pumpkin/sunflower seeds, as well as a bit of feta cheese and pea shoots. the fermentation really sets my stomach up for a good day, the pro and probiotics allowing me to digest and process my macro and micro nutrients.
Everyone complaining about the Kimichi stuff. Have you considered that you are just old and that kind of content, whether you like it or not, is what resonates with super young people.

pumpfun has made the fatal mistake of going against the trenches you might be able to screw over the uncs, the communities, and the ogs who don't drive your immediate revenue you might be able to undercut your competition, steal ideas, and be 8 months to them with half-assed execution but when you snake your core user base, the group who made you billions even during bear market and kept your company alive with a pulse when everyone was publicly calling for this industry's death, you've a crossed a line you can't come back from

Kimchi is the first person to truly cross the chasm between crypto and pop culture; the first ever example of a trader becoming a celebrity. He represents exactly where we’re heading: a massive social trading ecosystem that onboards retail and grows to 10x the size we were last cycle. The next wave of users does not come from CT - it comes from the masses - and we're proud to have Kimchi help us set the creative direction that will pave us on the path to a 100x larger ecosystem.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Kimchi is presented as a verified trader celebrity crossing into pop culture, but his signature claims of ~$40M profits trading $TRUMP (and resulting wealth) remain unverified with no disclosed wallet or on-chain proof. memecoin.wiki/wiki/kimchi bitcoinfoundation.org/news/people-in… tapbit.com/en/learn/artic…

I bought this coin as a joke a few hours ago but I'm actually legitimately starting to wonder if it's unironically completely over for onchain

The cycle with no sustained outliers or runners because the field is littered with scammers, ruggers and KOLs who’ve managed to convince themselves that manipulating and extracting from their fellow man is part of the game. Villains and criminals.

It's interesting that whenever pump gets fud or some backlashing against their latest feature designed to extract even more fees from the trenches, they quickly announce a new feature no one asked for or wants, in an attempt to move the news cycle along as quickly as possible Then, their army of paid off kols proclaim said latest feature is the greatest feature the trenches has ever seen It's eerily similar to the propaganda certain states use to deflect from their atrocities Very interesting

the reason your entire timeline looks like an advertising board for @Pumpfun is because @a1lon9 spent the airdrop money on buying complicity from all your favourite KOLs and characters on CT. 3/4 of them aren't even rocking the pf badge, but they're getting paid a monthly retainer - i know this because i know half of them and they took a deal because they cannot make any money in these conditions. the irony of this, of course, is the reason they can't make money onchain anymore is because of the company that is paying for their compliance and/or silence. half these desperate traders under the new pumpfun fees, are being required to pay more in fees back to pf from the exorbitant minimum volume they have to trade, than the money pumpfun are paying them. naturally the guys are the top of the pile, the Hugos, the slingorrs, the ansems, the chairmans etc, are getting a very nice slice of the pie, both in retainers and insane call out payments, but there are countless people with like 2-3k followers on CT getting these goyim mines deals. just know that you're all responsible for the state of things onchain in some way, shape or form, and I hope those couple bands every month help allay your conscience. CT has turned into a cesspit akin to casino slots twitter. I hope you enjoy this mess.

Pumpfun just bought out all the KOLs so basically nobody on CT can say anything bad about them. It’s actually hilarious. Nasty work. You all know who you are too with the badges, shameless.

xitter.cf/a1lon9/status/18198300… we got pumpfun employees taking about PVE and winning on coins appreciating on HTFs. this place has completely lost its fucking mind, i swear on everything that is sacred.
Okay, hear me out: We need a few coins where a large group of people who have held for a minimum 3–6+ months all make millions. The second that happens, everybody will be scared to sell their coins, and we will bring back holding culture and believing in something forever.

crypto is starting to feel like idiocracy playing out in real time. we went from people debating how protocols generate revenue and capture value to people debating which animal picture has the best chance of being the daily runner. somehow the people who can barely see beyond the next $100k topper now control most of the attention. how is the market supposed to discover real innovation when the people driving the narrative can’t recognize anything beyond a chart? the industry didn’t necessarily get dumber. it just started rewarding the dumbest behavior.

yeah fomo fills are fucking dogwater (if you're gambling on low liq daily runner slop), yes their fees for most accounts are fucking ridiculous and yes some of the largest KOLs on their books are some of the biggest slimy pieces of shit in the space. but at least i don't feel like they're trying to gape my anus, steal every dollar out of my bank account and employ a succubus to suck my soul out of my third eye. if fomo is a pernicious, ruthless fat cat capitalist, then pumpfun is Beelzebub yanked out of the 9th ring of hell.
