Hollywood’s center of gravity is increasingly tilting to the East Coast.
While California kept its crown at No. 1 with $1.76 billion in movie and TV production spend, New York is drawing major titles at a much more rapid pace, according to industry tracker ProdPro’s closely-watched quarterly snapshot released on Thursday. The state surged 87 percent in production spend in the quarter to $1.61 billion compared with California’s 17 percent uptick.

also: don't carve them so early! Put the pumpkins out in October if you want but wait until at least ten days before Halloween to carve them...
Every year, viral social media posts tell us to bleach pumpkins to preserve them. And every year, I post: please don't do that.
Pumpkins are food. Wild animals will nibble a jack-o'-lantern, so bleach, paint and plastic decorations turn a pumpkin into contaminated food. Wildlife agencies recommend keeping pumpkins free of chemical preservatives.
You can preserve your pumpkins longer by keeping them cool and bringing them inside between displays. It's also reasonable to accept that pumpkins are perishable and they will rot over time. As they should.
When your jack-o-lantern is done, remove candles, wax and decorations. Compost an untreated pumpkin or use an approved municipal drop-off.
Don't dump piles of pumpkins in parks or preserves; even organic waste is litter when it concentrates food, spreads non-native seeds and attracts animals to roads and people.
Painted or treated pumpkins belong in the trash unless local guidance says otherwise.

A reminder to listen to your body and take a break when you need it. A little self compassion goes a long way.

I still think Felicity cutting her hair was one of the most unfairly criticized moments in TV history. 😂
This girl followed Ben across the country, spent so much time trying to figure out who she was, and the minute she made a decision about HER OWN hair, everyone lost their minds.
I actually loved that she did it. And I’m still convinced people were more attached to her hair than they were to her character.

Vivien Leigh’s screen tests for “Rebecca” (1940), opposite Laurence Olivier who had been cast as Maxim de Winter. Vivien desperately wanted the role of the timid second wife, but producer David Selznick said she was “still playing Scarlett and would convince no one.” The part went to newcomer Joan Fontaine.

I just saw another sanctimonious, horrified review of Bluebeard’s Castle. What these people don’t get is that women stay in bad relationships because they don’t realize they are being abused. The light tone is not a joke, but a reflection of her blindly positive outlook.

Stop megadosing Vitamin D until you read this.
Most people treat Vitamin D like a solo act. It’s not. It’s a Magnesium-dependent process.
Clinical reality: Case reports suggest that with severe Mg deficiency, even 600,000 IU of Vitamin D fails to work.
Your body simply stays "resistant" until Magnesium is added.
With over 50% of adults insufficient in Magnesium, we’re dealing with a silent epidemic of Vitamin D resistance.
The risk? If you push high-dose D without Mg, you’re not raising your "D" levels, you’re likely raising calcium and phosphate, which can contribute to vascular calcification.
The "D3-Magnesium" Action Plan
1. Food First: Add pumpkin seeds and leafy greens daily. Whole foods are the foundation for a healthy magnesium level.
2.Test RBC Magnesium: Don’t rely on "Serum" labs; they only show 1% of your body's stores. Get an RBC test to reveal intracellular stores.
3.The 2-Week Lead: If you’re starting high-dose D3, supplement Magnesium for 14 days first to "prime" the activation enzymes.
4. Match the Ratio: Avoid supplementing D3 in isolation . Anecdotal reports and mechanistic plausibility suggest Magnesium depletion underlies the restlessness and energy crashes some people experience on D3."
5. Add Vitamin K2: Take 100mcg (MK-7) to keep that calcium out of your arteries. (Talk to your doctor first)
Nutrients work in networks. Getting the cofactors right matters as much as the dose.

there's a false division between dog-persons & cat-persons. many friends have both, & they all get along well together.
somewhat humorous that women would consider a man who loved cats "less masculine" than otherwise--as if "less-masculine" isn't an attraction in itself.
in NYC it's a delightful sight to see very tall/large men with teeny little dogs & petit women with Great Danes. too bad that cats are not amenable to walking leashed.
how they all fit into their small apartments is a matter of wonder.
