No. What Europe needs to do is electrify its transportation sector. This is something that is already in progress but should be accelerated. It is a geopolitical imperative that Europe massively reduce their fossil fuel imports and be self-reliant on their own supplies for industrial uses.

"a short, intense military campaign after the midterms"
This is what I've been hearing as well: "The US has told several Gulf Arab countries to be prepared for a short, intense military campaign after the midterms." wsj.com/world/middle-east/u-…

Ukrainian journalist @RomanShrike writes:
"I read the headline: “What to expect from the new talks between Ukraine and Russia?” My answer: expect nothing. As long as Putin is swimming in cash pouring into Russia thanks to insane oil prices, there’s nothing to expect.
Because with that money, he can churn out drones and missiles, recruit more soldiers, and buy more politicians and media agents.
And he can do more than just cling to hopes of a breakthrough on the front lines or an uprising in Kyiv (neither of which will happen). He can also bide his time, waiting for even more of his “clients” to come to power in influential countries.
And as long as Putin keeps entertaining these fucking delusions, he won’t agree to any compromises. And we, for our part, will never accept his ultimatums."
Just couldn't agree more.

The Americans continue to fundamentally misunderstand the Russians because they cannot understand why anyone would be motivated by anything other than money.
New: The US and Russia are discussing bringing American oil majors back to Russia, reviving energy exports to Europe via the Druzhba pipeline and a host of other business deals as Washington seeks to entice Putin to end the war in Ukraine. as.ft.com/r/2349d7fb-66a0-43…

My new open-source investigation: On 20 October TsBST, a Moscow non-profit for the Russian drone industry co-founded by a state-owned bank, re-posted a Russian UAV maker's video of a drone flying at the Zaporizhzhia regional government building and told servicemen they can order the two products used on ROI.MARKET.
Its shopfront isn't public, and neither is its vendor list, but there's plenty of open-source data to triangulate. It grew out of WB Watch, my tracker of military goods sold on Wildberries, and leads from the makers and dealers through state buyers to units on the Kherson front, including formations the UN names in its findings on the "human safari" drone attacks on civilians.

Regarding Russian conscripts, this is not the case. The overwhelming percentage of Russian forces fighting in this war are men well over 30 who accepted service contracts for money. They were not conscripted, or mobilized. For more on this topic: warontherocks.com/a-return-t…

The endless slaughter of Ukrainian and Russians must stop.
We should some sympathy for the poor Russian conscripts too. Those kids have no choice but to fight and die in drone strikes.

The atmosphere is amazing, all the cars honking, fireworks, people smiling at every passerby, truly a holiday. I'm posting this so I can savor the moment forever. I'm not forgetting the MAGA cadavers who took part in Vučić's last grip on power though, your time will soon come.

A Russian propagandist pushing a Russian narrative is hardly surprising.
Tucker Carlson thinks there’s a 50 per cent chance Putin will use a nuclear weapon in the next six months — “believe me, I talk to the Russians a lot”.

Useful disclosure here from Thomas Wright. State sponsored terrorism is apparently contingent on a body count. Putting a bomb on a commercial plane is in itself insufficient, but prompts a warning of future designation. Well, seven cargo ships were hit in the Black Sea in the past two weeks alone; around 30 sailors were killed or remain missing. I wonder what the threshold is. Or if minor casualty events don’t ever add up to “mass.” theatlantic.com/internationa…

A few simple questions expose the holes in Starlink/Starshield story.
1. If it was a ToS violation, why is the service working again, including drones?
2. Starshield was throttled. Since it’s a military system, which ToS did it violate?
Try asking rational questions

Today the Russians yet again engaged in one of their favorite activities in Kherson: murdering old men walking their dogs. Footage released on their own channels shows them hunting down and murdering a man’s dog, while the man’s status is unknown.
This is something they’ve done over and over again. For years. Deliberately. It is a campaign of terrorism which will not be forgiven or forgotten.

Russia requires a security guarantee that Ukraine will not defend itself the next time we attack it.
Not so much hybrid is it?
UPDATE: Suspected Russian Attacks on cargo ships in the Black Sea
Per @InsiderGeo, another ship has been attacked and sunk this morning, with 3 crew missing, 1 dead and 9 injured when the vessel capsized following the attack, around 13NM from Constanta. It was travelling from Turkey to Romania at the time flagged to Comoros.
This brings the total to 8 ships this month.

Putin publicly adding genetics to history in his claim that Ukraine and Ukrainians are really Russian. Again, those insisting this is about "NATO expansion" or the "Maidan coup" are at best propagandists, and many are just morons who have never actually looked at what VVP says.
Russian President Vladimir Putin cited genetics to declare that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and reiterated his claim to Ukrainian territory, saying: “I think that it is not their territory but the historical territory of Russia.” wapo.st/48aZaZF

My latest: Ukraine’s Starshield access is still crippled, no-one is taking the blame, and Ukrainian soldiers and civilians are dying because of it.

NEW!! Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in the U.S, Denys Sienik, tells @RFERL Starshield speed restrictions remain in place, with no improvement
“Every day matters for Ukraine because every Ukrainian life matters,” he said, adding that Ukrainians are still waiting for positive news
Alexander Black retweeted
So Trump called Musk to lift restrictions on Starshield speeds in Ukraine, and a day later Zelensky’s chief drone adviser says the restrictions still largely remain in place. Which raises the question: who’s in charge?

“you joined Quincy to explicitly argue that nothing should be done to stop the regional bloodbath that was already happening.”
Already happening are the key words.
This is the most important point. From JCPOA advocates to Quincy agents, pretending that the region was stable while Iran was strengthening its grasp on four Arab capitals and empowering its terrorist regional militias that were slaughtering and displacing Arabs and corrupting the countries, was utterly destabilizing, dangerous, and lacked understanding and foresight. Besides that it ignored the bloodbath and humanitarian crisis in Syria alone.

I guess my $100 is safe, and you didn’t present any evidence of my alleged apologism for regimes.
You didn’t join Quincy to *stop* a regional bloodbath, you joined Quincy to explicitly argue that nothing should be done to stop the regional bloodbath that was already happening.

There were no U.S. troops in Ukraine in 2022, aside from a whatever small contingent was guarding the U.S. embassy.
The document you are quoting - which you apparently either didn't read, or failed to understand - refers to "allied" troops in "Eastern Europe", not Ukraine.
