Something’s been weighing on me. I have to talk about this, even if some of you won’t agree; it's time to say it straight. I also want to share the clip, so think for yourself.

I was hoping to be able to announce this in my own time – but the media rumour mill is swirling, I'm being contacted by various reporters and others, and I don't like denying the truth, so ... I wrote my first "Economic Agenda" column in The Sunday Telegraph 27 years ago, under the editorship of Dominic Lawson – filling-in occasionally during the late-1990s, before being given my own weekly slot from 2003. Since then, while I've been heavily involved in television, and am perhaps better known as a broadcaster, penning "Economic Agenda" for The Sunday Telegraph each week has been the backbone of my journalistic life. On Thursday, the @Telegraph rang to tell me my column is being scrapped. I was asked, and have agreed, to write "Economic Agenda" until the end of November, as per my contract. After that, my Sunday Telegraph column will be no more. Why this decision has been made, and whether or not my columns were any good, is for others to judge. All I will say is that, as the first person in my family to attend university, sustaining a weekly column in a leading national newspaper for a quarter of a century has been a source of enormous pride for myself and my family. Lots of people have been asking me about the future of "Planet Normal" - the hugely-popular Telegraph podcast which I co-created and co-present with the brilliant @AllisonPearson "Planet Normal" has, over the last 330 weekly episodes, also become a major part of my professional life and my broader identity. With Allison reportedly leaving the Telegraph as well, there is a lot of speculation about whether or not the podcast will continue to impart "news and views from beyond the bubble" with our usual blend of sharp analysis, humour and occasional outrage ! Well, I am delighted to confirm that Co-Pilot Pearson and myself are deeply committed to our joint podcast – and, above all, to our beloved listeners. We will, as and when notice periods allow, continue our voyages through space every Thursday – perhaps to "Planet Normal", or maybe to another part of the solar system – so we can "gaze down each week at the madness of Planet Earth", as we have done since the Spring of 2020. So citizens of Planet Normal, stand ready ! The "rocket-of-right-thinking", the "flying refuge of reasoned views", will soon be launched once again 🚀🪐👨‍🏭👱‍♀️🎙️📺 I poured my heart and soul into "Economic Agenda" and "Planet Normal". The Telegraph's decision to scrap them is obviously a huge personal blow. But I will always be grateful for the opportunities the paper has given me. Above all, I would like to thank the illustrious list of successive Telegraph business editors I've worked with since the late-1990s, many of whom have become and remain good friends - including @Peston @RobertsDan @larmitstead @neilbenet @benjaminmarlow @cg_williams @kamalahmednews @MarkKleinmanSky @jamesrquinn (sorry if I've forgotten anyone, it's been a long time!) On Friday, even though I almost always write my column from elsewhere, and despite being extremely disappointed by the paper's decision, I decided to go into the Telegraph and write today's column sitting in the newsroom. I am glad I did - as being at the heart of the paper at such a difficult time allowed for lots of conversations, with everyone from junior production staff to senior reporters and executives, which reminded me that journalism, despite being an industry at the whim of seemingly endless and often brutal commercial and technological upheaval, is not only hugely important to our country, but full of talented, decent people. See picture below, having just filed my piece, as I was heading out the door ...

I agree 💯 🇬🇧 Whatever people think of @TRobinsonNewEra, they cannot simply erase the personal costs he has faced or the years he has spent campaigning on issues he believes matter to Britain. Tommy Robinson has been jailed, faced relentless controversy and continued to speak out. His supporters see someone who refuses to be silenced, even when the consequences are severe. In a democracy, we should be able to debate immigration, grooming gangs, extremism, integration and freedom of speech without fear. The same laws and standards must apply to everyone, regardless of background or beliefs. Nobody should be above the law, but neither should people be treated differently because of their political views. Peaceful expression deserves protection, and genuine crimes must be investigated and prosecuted fairly. You do not have to agree with every statement Tommy Robinson makes to recognise that these are serious questions Britain needs to address. The country needs honest debate, equal justice and leaders who listen to ordinary people rather than dismissing their concerns. 🇬🇧 Thank you to everyone who continues to speak up for Britain, freedom of speech and the safety of our children. These issues deserve answers, not silence.🤐🙏

Lots of questions on the ITV 'investigation' into Reform. It's absolutely scandalous how those journalists behaved, to be entirely honest. Secretly recording members/councillors who made comments that clearly weren't meant for wider audiences. Evidently I have my disagreements with Reform, but the way those journalists lied to gain trust and then publish private remarks is vile. Gutter journalism.

The creator of the 'Palestine poppy' is an Oxford-educated paediatrician who has written books for Muslim teenagers justifying stoning and warning that homosexuality is 'a test from Allah'. Abdul Qader Ismail was accused of trying to 'hijack' Remembrance Day after he began selling an enamel pin shaped like a poppy in the colours of the Palestinian flag for £1.78 on eBay. The pin is listed as 'not for profit' with money being donated to Gaza charities. The Spectator can now reveal that Ismail is an active member of Greens for Palestine and co-sponsored the group's 'Zionism is Racism' policy. He is also the author of a book series titled An Introduction to Challenging Topics for Muslim Teens. ✍️ Noa Hoffman Article | spectator.com/article/reveal… | @hoffman_noa

🇫🇷 FRENCH STUDENTS SING THEIR NATIONAL ANTHEM AT PARIS PROTEST A powerful moment tonight as French students proudly sing La Marseillaise, their national anthem, during protests near Place de la République in Paris. Whatever your politics, there’s something powerful about young people standing together and singing their national anthem. Filmed 19th October 2026.

🚨CCTV: Man in high-vis punches frail elderly disabled man to the floor in what looks like his own room, then ransacks the place while he lies helpless. Original post claims the attacker is a Muslim foreign national. Victim apparently managed to raise a panic alarm and the man fled. Police need to identify and arrest him ASAP. When elderly Brits are targeted like this in their homes, patience runs out fast. Share if you want this prioritised. 😡

Honour killings are so common in the Islamic Regime of Iran that not a day goes by without reports of another woman having been murdered by her family members. Maryam Yarmohammadi, a 28-year-old woman, was murdered by her brother on October 5th after her husband took the children and left the house in a coordinated act with her brother. So the brother attacked her with a knife and cut her breasts, genitals, and neck. When her brother and husband were detained for conspiring and murdering her, a number of her relatives gathered in front of the hospital and protested their detention. These family members stated that they forgive the perpetrators and have no complaint, as under the Islamic penal code, the victim’s father can forgive her murderer if the murder is an honour killing. In her obituary published without her picture as is customary in an Islamic country, both her brother and her husband’s names are printed as her “beloved” relatives. That is also customary. As if the murderers mock women they kill even after they are buried and gone. This is Islam for you. May Maryam rest in peace now.
@fatima_babakhani #زن‌کشی #دادبان

HOW DO WE STOP THE BOATS? I get asked this question constantly. “Send in the Navy!” “Turn the boats around!” “Put more patrols in the Channel!” My opinion is different. Having spent weeks on the ground in France, watching this unfold with my own eyes, I believe the answer is far simpler. France has played an absolute blinder. Conditions in the migrant camps are appalling. Filthy, overcrowded slums that make France look like somewhere nobody wants to stay and Britain look like the land of opportunity. Clever, when you think about it. Then comes the next stage. Buses transporting migrants, gendarmes walking groups towards the beaches like they’re on a school trip, and French vessels accompanying boats across the Channel until British authorities take over. I’ve documented enough of this to form my own conclusions. So here’s what I would do. Stop handing France millions. We’re paying for a system that clearly isn’t delivering. Detain everyone arriving illegally, Identify, photograph and document every arrival. Return every person to France Invoice France for the costs. Yes, I know they probably wouldn’t pay. End the perception that arriving illegally guarantees accommodation, financial support and a permanent future in Britain. Make the journey pointless, and you destroy the smugglers’ business model. People are paying thousands because they believe reaching British shores is the finish line. Remove that incentive and why would they keep handing their money to criminal gangs? I believe crossings could fall dramatically within weeks if that message became a reality. No Navy warships required. No dangerous confrontations at sea. Just a government with the backbone to enforce its borders. It is not racist to believe your country should control who enters it. It is not racist to demand that immigration laws are enforced. And it is certainly not racist to believe that the British people and their interests should come first. I’ve watched this operation from the beaches, the camps and the water. Throwing more money at France isn’t my answer. Remove the incentive. Enforce the law. Break the business model. It’s time to put Britain first.

An extended version of the Gravelines crossing showing the distance from the sea and the multiple opportunities that authorities had to stop the illegals from getting to the sea! 8:00am in France at Gravelines beach which is in-between Calais and Dunkirk on the 27th September 2026 This was shot during my 37 day trip to document the illegal migrants A video captured to show the slow pace of a crossing and how easily it could be stopped by authorities
