Same thing happened two years ago in Pune. My maid saw the Prasad, said “no” without looking properly, and took none.
Puja dishes were in the sink. I told her to wash them after the normal ones; she ignored them, so I did it myself.
Next day she asked for a Diwali bonus, saying the maid next door got money so she should too.
I reminded her she didn’t touch the Prasad or plates. She said, “That’s different. Festival means bonus. Cleaning those dishes is not my work.”
She can refuse anything related to the puja because of her religion, but expects Diwali money.
I paid only her normal salary. She left annoyed.
I told her to leave after a month as her work wasn’t great after that.
