Female protagonists are overly masculine and it is simply not believable anymore. Most gamers are men - we want to either play as the overly masculine hero (we imagine to be) or look at the feminine woman (we imagine to fuck). We don't want a mix of the two.

Gaming is absolutely a male space and always will be because you need spatial awareness, intelligence, combinatoric ability, self reflection, reaction time, problem solving etc. The stuff men are good at thru hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.
