Today marked Day 1 of our 14-day KIC leadership program in Mombasa,
where I’m representing the young people of @NrmYouthleague
I was able to present on SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the lens of regional integration.
In line with H.E. @KagutaMuseveni’s core message that economic integration drives market-led prosperity while full political federation guarantees strategic security,
I highlighted how joint regional projects and youth-led cross-border cooperation are vital to unlocking jobs and sustainable development across East Africa.

Mzee @KagutaMuseveni, as a National Secretary of the @NrmYouthleague , I welcome your call to debate.
Let me address every point you made:
1. 📌On Big Markets and East African Integration:
We agree that a single African market and East African Federation will bring prosperity.
But right now, young business owners face high cross-border taxes, expensive loans, and tough trade rules.
The big market is good on paper, but how do we make sure young Ugandans can actually sell across borders without these roadblocks?
2. 📌On Strategic Security and Defense:
You mentioned defense on land, sea, air, and in space. True security today needs modern technology.
How is the government directly supporting young Ugandan scientists and tech innovators so we can build these systems ourselves?
3. 📌On Sports, Music, and Fashion:
You mentioned that leisure needs wealth and security first.
We respect your 60 years of work, but today, sports, music, and digital content are not just for fun they are real multi-billion-dollar industries that create jobs. Instead of seeing them as secondary, how can we fund and protect the creative sector as a major source of national wealth?
4. 📌The Challenge:
Mzeei, you built the foundation over six decades. The challenge for our generation is making it work on the ground.
We should not just debate this on social media.
As NRM youth leaders, we challenge you to a National Youth Leadership Town Hall (public Forum) .
Let us sit down and create practical policies that give young Ugandans real opportunities in the East African Federation.
We are ready when you are, Mzeei.
For God and My Country

Replying to @KagutaMuseveni
On the political-economic front, the young People must understand and support the reasons for the economic integration of Africa in the form of the common market and for the political integration of East Africa, leading into the Political Federation of East Africa and possibly for other zones that are compatible. This is to guarantee our prosperity by creating a big and reliable market for the wealth-creators of Africa to sell their products and services and expand, while the regional Federations, guarantee our strategic security by enabling us to defend ourselves on land, in the air, at sea and in space.
It is good for the young People to be attracted by sport, music, fashion, etc. I was when I was young. Indeed, I was a footballer and a cricketer. We, however, quickly learnt that games, music, leisure, are not possible where there is no wealth or security. That is how I had to invest more than 60 years of my now 82 years in search of wealth and security for Ugandans and also some small efforts in Africa.
I am ready to debate this with the youth and all those interested in the social-media.

Yoweri K. Museveni
