Leverage, AI hype, and retail traders are the common thread behind almost all of them.
Just in the past few years:
~ Nikola / Trevor Milton. Faked a truck "driving" by filming it rolling downhill. Resigned, got indicted, later convicted of securities fraud.
~ GameStop / Meme Stock Mania. Retail traders on WallStreetBets squeezed hedge funds short the stock. Went from single digits to $400+ intraday.
~ Archegos Collapse. Bill Hwang's $20 billion net worth erased in a matter of days.
~ Terra / Luna. A so called "algorithmic stablecoin" propped up by unsustainable yields collapsed to zero almost overnight.
~ FTX / Sam Bankman-Fried. Exchange collapsed after customer funds were secretly funneled into his trading firm.
~ Silicon Valley Bank. The fastest bank run in history. Over $40B pulled in a single day before regulators stepped in.
~ Credit Suisse. Collapsed in March 2023 after roughly $5.5B in Archegos fallout losses. Absorbed by UBS.
~ Leopold Aschenbrenner's Hedge Fund. His $45B AI fund got crushed on infrastructure bets and was forced to unwind its entire public book to Citadel.
Every cycle finds a new way to blow up. The names change, the mechanics rhyme.

Deutsche Bank bugün sabah çıkardığı "Türkiye fixed income: now or never" research note'unda Türkiye devlet tahvillerini ısrarla öneriyor. Bunun için de 3 sebep belirtilmiş:
* Enflasyonun zirveye ulaştığı ve ilerleyen aylarda güçlü bir dezenflasyon gerçekleşeceği,
* Lokal varlıklardaki arzın yaz aylarında düşük seyredeceği ve pozisyonlanmanın hala düşük seviyelerde olması,
* Tahviller şu anda reel faiz ödemese de, enflasyon beklentilerinin düzelmesi ile tahvil getirilerinin daha cazip hale geleceği.
