I grew up resenting my aunt for being well-off but not helping us financially.
When I started working, I promised myself Iโd be a better version of her. I helped siblings, nieces, nephews, family โ whoever needed it.
Then Black Tax had me in a chokehold, and eventually debt started catching up with me.
Thatโs when I learned to set boundaries.
I finally understood that I donโt owe anyone financial support simply because weโre family. And, most importantly, I stopped feeling guilty about it.
Funny how adulthood teaches you to understand the people you once judged.

Do other moms pass up getting things for yourself because you see how expensive it is? Hub wanted subs for dinner tonight so I get them for kids and him and just 3 little ones is already $18.. his is $10.. plus tax. I say no thanks, Iโll eat leftovers. So I donโt get a sub sandwich because I donโt think I should be wasting money like that. (Even though itโs my husbandโs money) ๐ซค which then makes me feel left out but really itโs my own choice, but I feel like we really shouldnโt be paying to eat out at all so Iโm the one sacrificing and being financially responsible. Am I alone in this? What would you do?
