Why can’t hackers do something useful and relatable? Don’t be fucking around with freezers. Hack into Mastercard and wipe out all evidence of spending. Lower the prices at petrol pumps. Shut down Microsoft Teams, or takedown Outlook for 72 hours. Win hearts and minds!

In light of recent ao3 related events, I have stumbled upon a website that I think authors need to be made aware of.
The website ao3 [DOT] life has been scraping and downloading fics published to ao3 for who knows how long. 🧵

just saw this AO3 Blackout Comment Challenge posted on tumblr and it sounds fun!! it's got a nice template for keeping track of reading and future comments to leave when ao3 is back up 💜

A reminder that Suella was heavily involved in the £700 million Rwanda plan which resulted in 4 volunteers being deported, backed Liz Truss in the leadership battle and resigned as Home Secretary because of an accidental breach of the ministerial code then sacked during her second go.
Oops.
Blue Planet III has just premiered. So far it's pretty relaxing. Just saying. #AO3 #BluePlanet #BluePlanet3

The vast majority of artists are working class freelancers, many of which have to hold non-art jobs to pay their bills. The idea that being an artist means you've got an abundance of spare time and money is a complete fabrication. "Starving artist" is a stereotype for a reason.

it's a bit funny when people say "get a job" when you mention you like fanfiction because the best fic you’ll ever read is written by people in their 40s with incredibly successful corporate jobs that allow them to buy ungodly amounts of merch lol

I feel like some of yall are losing the plot… THE HISTORY OF FANFICTION IS PASSING STORIES BETWEEN FANS
THE STAR TREK FANDOM, FOUNDERS OF FANFICTION, WOULD TYPE FICS ON THEIR LITTLE TYPEWRITERS, PHOTOCOPY THEM, AND PASS THEM AROUND AT CONS

Tesco are making £4bn a year in profit.
About 50% of their staff are on Universal Credit.
Why don't we crackdown on this unneeded benefit for billionaires?

BREAKING: Neuroscientists confirm that ADHD brains struggle with "emotional co-regulation boundaries"—meaning an ADHD parent or child will walk into a room, instantly absorb everyone else’s stress like a sponge, and blow up without realizing the anger wasn't even theirs.
In a house full of neurodivergent brains, emotions are deeply contagious:1/7

I know thr pro-AI crowd isn't going to like this but if you do not put in the time and effort it takes to learn an artistic skill (draw, paint, animated, write, music) you do NOT deserve to make it, simple as that. It is a human skill that people dedicate their lives to.

The front page of the billionaire-owned propaganda comic the Daily Mail promises to reveal the "TRUE COST OF LABOUR MIGRATION DITHERING".
It states "at least 200,000 given right to remain since crackdown promise", and a list of what settlement brings with it: benefits, NHS care and social housing. The reader is left to add up the bill themselves.
Here's the real figures. In the year to June 2026, 199,628 people were granted settlement, also known as indefinite leave to remain, up 24% on the year before. The Mail doesn't say exactly when its "since" period starts, so readers can't check its 200,000 against the official tables.
The headline also hides who these people are. "Settling permanently in Britain" sounds like new arrivals.
Settlement adds nobody to the population.
To qualify, people must normally have already lived and worked here legally for FIVE YEARS. So many of those settling now will have arrived around 2020–21, under a Tory government.
One of that government's Home Office ministers at the time was Chris Philp, who held the immigration compliance and asylum brief. He is now quoted on the Mail's front page attacking Labour over the results.
Then there is the "dithering". The crackdown is Labour's own plan: in November 2025, Shabana Mahmood proposed doubling the usual wait for settlement from five years to ten. The plan hasn't yet become law because, she told MPs, the consultation drew more responses than expected and analysing them has taken longer.
Until the rules change, people who meet the existing rules are entitled to settle. Granting them settlement is UK law working as written.
The bigger wave is still to come. People who arrived in 2022 start qualifying next year, and the Home Office expects 1.6 million settlements between 2026 and 2030, peaking at 450,000 in 2028.
That's a real issue for policy, but it grows out of the record migration levels of 2022 and 2023, when the fucking Toroes - not Labour - were in power, rather than anything Labour has done since.
The same official release contained two facts the Mail left out.
Settlement for refugees fell by 40% to 22,799, and the number of asylum seekers in hotels halved to 16,021, the lowest since the figures began in 2022.
I wonder why that wasn't worthy of a front page splash?
The page follows a familiar pattern, which the linguist Teun van Dijk calls the ideological square: talk up the other side's failures, and leave out anything that counts in their favour.
The Mail's main device is the same one favoured by Reform UK, what van Dijk calls the "number game". Phrases like "thousands every week" turn routine paperwork for people already living here into the language of a flood.
Whether settlement costs the public purse, and by how much, is a fair question. A front page that promises the "true cost" should give a figure, instead of misrepresenting reality on order to manipulate to its readers.
Fuck the Mail.

The problem is that if there's no Ai they could have digged into some good blender or unreal engine courses and learned ton of stuff to make something like this
But they learned nothing and they have 0 courage to do so now
And that's a problem I personally face with AI in a daily basis,
The illusion of competence
My 12 year old son just made this @Tesla Roadster game from scratch by himself using AI.
AI is nuts.
