🐹 I got in a taxi in Korea and the taxi driver told me "BTS saved my life"-
🐥 You're having conversations with taxi drivers? Do you usually start your ride with "Hello, it's me BTS' Jin"
🐹 No, it usually starts with "By any chance, are you.."
💜 Ahhhhh!
🐹 Then I go, yep, you're right, that's none other than me~ THAT'S NONE~ OTHER THAN ME~
🐨 They go like "You look familiar~?"
🐥 YUP, that's me
🐹 Nah not like that, they just go "By anyyy chance?" And it feels kinda off to lie, so I just accept it like yep, that's me
🐥 So what did they say?
🐹 They said that their life was saved thanks to BTS. He was an ahjussi like a much older man than me and explained it in detail, like how his business failed, everything went down, and his life was so difficult, and he approached bts' music at that time and said that the lyrics were so beautiful and pretty- to be honest, Namjoon played a huge role in that, it was so beautiful that it gave him strength..
🐿 This is such a unique situation like
🐨 Yeah, taxi driver is a first
🐱 I've heard that a lot from Koreans overseas
🐹 I've heard it at restaurants too!
🐿 Restaurants, yes!

Found an interesting, if long winded substack that uses the Ao3 downtime happening at the same time of that HP fic being repurposed as a novel as a starting point to talk about the shift of fandom culture from gift economy to a transactional one

the normalization of people using fandom/fanfiction for monetization either through kofi/patreon or by making their goal as a creator to write a fic that gets popular enough to publish traditionally with name swaps has truly done irreparable harm to the fandom ecosystem
The problem with charging for fanfiction is that at some point (that comes very fast) buying an actual book would be cheaper. But considering that someone posted “$15 per chapter”, looks like some people are just too financially unconscious lol

this is such a weird argument bc fan art is also illegal and lives in a copyright gray area. the average original owner of the material either doesn’t care or doesn’t go after it. while other big corps do care. try to sell fan art of disney….

fan artists, once again, cannot do any of that. it is illegal and there are take downs of their work. this is not a real argument. you cannot make money on someones IP. just bc it doesnt happen frequently for you to see doesnt mean it isnt happening

a library. this person just described a library. people are mad at libraries now
Replying to @ringthemoon
oh defff that it should be assumed it may or may not be downloaded and live forever! but I think the difference here is, someone downloading it and reading once for personal use, vs taking it and hosting it in their drive for a secondary audience to return to for a longer term
