The Paloma Challenge @nrlhunter match kicked our butts so I’m posting one of our good stages to feel better. The match was the most challenging we’ve shot this year. 100℉ temps, many targets out at distance with backdrops that made spotting misses near impossible, and positions that required a lot of tripod or triple-pull/tripod shooting. Clark and I realized we need to practice a lot more — not just shooting off a tripod but building a position and transitioning positions with one. Somehow we managed an 8th place finish out of a field of 32 teams. The rest of our crew from western CO crushed it with numerous 1st place trophies in other divisions. Big thanks to Buck Doyle and Conner Quintanilla for hosting the match. Looking forward to next season’s match! Though we didn’t perform flawlessly, our gear did. We were definitely thankful we had our @MDTTAC Ckye-pod triple-pull bipods. It made a lot of stages easier. 1st round impacts on 4 little donkeys at about 300yds from a gulley. People on X were crashing out over @LucasBotkin‘s post about @MDTTAC Ckye-Pod bipods, but their triple pull version sure came in handy on this stage for my teammate Clark . I opted for double tripod on this stage which was quite steady. In competitions like this good equipment absolutely makes a difference.

All competition pushes the bounds on equipment. No matter the rules, divisions, etc, the top in the field will continue to push with equipment and strategies. Some see this as bug. I think it’s a feature. Long range shooting sports like @nrlhunter (this video), PRS, ELR, etc have influenced shooting and reloading strategies/methods and created some big leaps in technology. Over time the best technology today will become commoditized and common. The best strategies will become commonplace. But none of that happens without people pushing the boundaries. You may not compete, and that’s fine. But don’t show up and call everyone an idiot for buying and using niche, high-quality equipment (though I’m sure some of you won’t be able to resist). My setup

Full NRL Hunter stage run in the Teams division at the Battle of Rattlesnake Butte. Finished in 6th place. Overall Clark and I are happy with our performance, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Every match this season we’ll do great on 18 out of 20 stages and have a train wreck on 2. We have two more matches this season and our goal is to tighten that up. As always our rifles chambered by West Elk Precision hammered all weekend. Best part about Jaden is you get a lot more than some gunsmithing — you get a ton of advice and help from a top shooter in the country. Clark and I both switched up some gear for this match. Clark swapped out his suppressor for the @_ASILENCER 30L which surprised us both, not just because it was quiet, but because it reduced recoil really well despite not having a brake. Just look at the muzzle rise on Clark’s shots. I changed up even more. I went from a chassis to a Foundation Ezekiel stock, changed scopes to a @BurrisOptics XTR Pro, and switched to a Thunderbeast Magnus-s-RR suppressor with a RecoilX brake. I was a bit worried about my ability to spot my shots as well as I did with my old brake, but the tbac/recoilx combo worked well. #longrangeshooting #precisionrifle #NRLHunter #precisionshooting
