Were these shots deliberate artistic references? Just how deep a game was George Lucas playing?

Optimus is coming
Q3 Shareholder Update → ir.tesla.com Highlights – FSD Supervised attach rate grew to over 75% of new vehicle deliveries in NA – Unveiled the next-gen Roadster – Record deliveries in Canada, Australia, Japan & Taiwan – Tesla Semi now in volume production. Top variant can go up to 500 miles at a full 82,000 lbs while achieving efficiency of 1.7 kWh/mile – about a third of the energy a comparable diesel truck burns for the same load – Ended the quarter with the largest backlog for our passenger vehicles in 4 years! FSD Supervised – 4 new approvals since Q2 (Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia) – FSD is now live in nine EU countries & used by over 100,000 customers logging more than 160 million kilometers since initial approval Robotaxi – Deployed Cybercab into our Austin fleet – Hit nearly 2 million cumulative unsupervised miles, 8x growth in the quarter – Austin service now runs 6 am to midnight, with wait times continuing to come down as we add cars & improve the orchestration algorithms – Added Grok to Cybercab with Grok Bot & Connectors, letting you interface with your inbox, calendar, files, chats and tasks, all by voice. Transport, office & living room in one Robotics – Started production of @Tesla_Optimus on our high-volume lines in Fremont. These are the first production-quality bots we've built, proving that the current manufacturing process for Optimus is suitable for a commercial product SI Compute – On track for 400 MW of training compute by year end, feeding both vehicle & humanoid autonomy – Austin Fab construction continues, equipment commissioning planned for 2027 Battery – Battery supply is still the limiter on how fast we ramp vehicles globally, so we're expanding on every front: pack capacity in Berlin, cathode and lithium refining in Texas, LFP cells in Nevada – Shipped the first Megapacks built entirely with our own LFP cells – Increasing 4680 output to support ramp of Cybercab, Semi & Model Y Energy – Megafactory Texas is up & running, with Megapack 3 production started – Highest-ever order rate & backlog for energy storage Grid constraints & power availability are making Megapack the answer for SI infrastructure demand: it excels at supplying large data center loads, smooths out demand spikes, helps new projects meet grid connection rules & makes the grid itself more stable All with less local fossil fuel generation Supporting Infrastructure – Added 2,100+ net new Supercharger stalls, up 14% year over year

I got an up-close look at the engineering INSIDE the new Tesla Roadster at yesterday’s unveil, and it’s pretty crazy. After watching this thing drive upside down, launch into the air, and do flips, I got to see the actual hardware that makes it all possible. 1/ The Electric drive unit is the heart of the Roadster’s electric powertrain, delivering power directly to the wheels. 2/ The battery pack has rows of cylindrical battery cells, with cooling systems and electrical connections running throughout. This is what powers the car before the rocket tech comes into play. 3/ The rocket thrusters has multiple cold-gas nozzles. Tesla says the four main rear thrusters blast compressed air faster than the speed of sound, producing more than 80,000 newtons of thrust. 4/ The SpaceX-inspired pressure tanks has two massive carbon-fiber-wrapped pressure vessels with a combined capacity of 600 liters, holding approximately 250 kg of compressed air. And the wild thing is the Roadster can recharge its own air supply, no special rocket fuel is required. 5/ An active rear wing has a variable-pitch wing that automatically adjusts downforce depending on what the car needs. It allows it to get more grip when cornering, less drag when going fast. 6/ The underbody engineering is the hardware underneath that brings everything together, including the systems that help the Roadster stick to the ground and launch into the air. And then there’s the fan suction system, which Tesla says can generate up to 2 g’s of suction force, enough to hold the car upside down. Tesla and SpaceX have built an electric sports car with a battery, electric motors, rocket thrusters, high-pressure air tanks, active aerodynamics, and a suction system powerful enough to let it drive upside down. And yesterday, I watched it actually happen with my own eyes… I’ve seen some incredible engineering from Tesla over the years, but getting this close to the hardware and then seeing what it can do was on a whole another level. This is what happens when you bring together some of the best automotive and rocket engineers in the world and let them push the limits of what’s possible. Great job Tesla! 👏

If you see a flying car and your first response is “wow this is actually useless and gay” then perhaps it is not the flying car that is useless and gay

breathing is enough to give you away each breath slightly changes how Wi-Fi waves reflect off your chest. with the right receiver and processing, those tiny changes can reveal your breathing rhythm the graphs in this animation use real WiRe-Breath recordings: orange is the rhythm extracted from Wi-Fi, gray is a reference breathing sensor i broke down how this works, and what else you can pull out of the radio waves around you, in the article below ↓

A rare sight in the sky over France! Photographer Florian Riou captured stunning red sprites flashing high above a powerful thunderstorm. ⚡ A sprite is a large discharge of electricity high in the atmosphere miles above a thunderstorm that can extend almost to the edge of space, which is considered to be around 62 miles above the Earth's surface. These flashes last only milliseconds.
