My second Bilibili video: "A discussion about Dario and Anthropic"
I discuss why Dario Amodei is concerned about open-source models with cyber and bio capabilities, and why Anthropic wants to prevent distillation of their models by Chinese AI labs
Ugh this is such a waste of tokens 😭😭😭
They are gonna have to reduce usage limits once their users are running agents 24/7 and using 100% of the limit every week
I have decided to share my thoughts on the different AI models with the Chinese AI community
Spoiler: Gemini models are my least favorite by far
China is continuing to make incredible technological progress
They have now developed a POV of Claude banning your account for being Chinese
It says something about the authoritarian age we live in that the right wingers replying to this are fearmongering about liberal private charity
Government, corporations, and individuals apparently need to follow the Party Line on international aid and domestic social spending
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

Assuming "Meem" has the same climate as the Eastern Mediterranean, Meem wins fairly easily
Unfortunately they are bordering each other in Spain, which is not a great place to start a military campaign
It will be a logistical mess regardless of which one conquers the other
Okay why are lean R “undecideds” not just admitting they are going to vote for Garrity?
She’s gonna get at least 40% of the vote and for some reason a quarter of her supporters are being coy about it
Bravo Group poll | 10/5-10/11 RV

My first prompt to Opus 5.5 about economics (a toy model to predict AI-related structural transformation) annoyed me so badly that I gave up using it for a couple days
It had four suggestions and three of them were misguided. 1/4 ain’t good
I don't like Emil, but he seems like a smart guy
Jay Clayton (the new AI czar) had an extremely good interview with CNBC that inspired confidence
Scott Bessent is also decently competent
It seems that the Trump Admin is focusing their handful of competent officials on AI
We spoke with senior Defense official Emil Michael on Friday, who told us that the Trump administration has a range of options, including export controls, if AI companies do not cooperate with the government.
He also told us:
- His public feud with Anthropic will not get in the way of his new duties as Super Intelligence Task Force vice chair, where he is tasked with working with AI companies to develop an incident reporting framework ("If that means I’m talking to someone who’s suing me, well then I’m talking to them")
- The Defense Department will continue to bar Anthropic as long as it has a "moral principle" embedded in its software that allows its models to exert control over humans
- Frontier labs are acting like "drunk drivers" who demand someone else pull them over when they call for stricter government regulation
- The Office of Strategic Capital is exploring further investment into microelectronics and drone part companies
- He's worried about Chinese open-source dominance and foreign employees with split loyalities but doesn't think the answer is more government control
- He hasn't seen any reports on whether AI-enabled software failures from Palantir contributed to a U.S. missile strike on Iran in February that killed more than 150 people, including at least 123 children ("I’m not as online as I used to be.")
W/ @amir. You can read the full interview (and find a link to the video) here:

I don’t know why, but Sunday night usually ends up being Chinese food night for me
I hope that Sunday is also Chinese food night in China, so we can be connected across borders in that way

Hard to believe that Melenchon would even do that well in central and Western Paris
