We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

I am not kidding, just put it directly into Trump accounts in a way that it cannot be sold to anyone other than new buyers or new kids etc. this way it prevents being bought by institutions and still stays with the masses u intend to help. Otherwise all you are creating is a BIG FAT BLOATED EVIL NGO !!
Could push for doing it this way universally. Annual stock issuance into a fund with pipes that go to everyone.

Those who complain it's not enough- Please stop with the never ending victim mentality. No one owe us anything ever. SO when someone offers kind and or noble gestures, with authenticity, then feel gratitude and make the most out of it.
Besides, it's much more noble than what any other politicians or Sam Altman has done- taking OpenAI to ClosedAI or spending money like a drunken sailor..
People are concerned what public good means. We have seen a lot of causes that sound good but have deeply wounded our values and rekindled evil. Real outcomes.
And if you can find, beyond that, a good purpose that preferably most people would agree with wholeheartedly, and not just those of a certain political side, I urge you to share it.
Our societies need real things to look forward to, and some emphasis on things that we can make better together and care about together.
Who are the formal beneficiaries of the “Anthropic Public Benefit Fund,” @DarioAmodei?
Is this fund for the global or domestic public, or just a subset of the U.S. public? If so, what are the characteristics of that subset?
I’d like to know if my name is on that list. I don’t accept charity, but I might make an exception if I’m one of no more than five beneficiaries. This is not a joke. It’s a principle: I can’t accept a charitable amount I can earn on my own, but 1% of Anthropic hits the mark.
If this is intended to bait the federal government into taking a stake in Anthropic, then offer 49% and commit to taking full responsibility for the model’s security and behavior, as well as Anthropic’s financial security.
