Let’s add Austin Reaves for shits and giggles:
Luka: 103 points, 22 rebounds, 24 assists, 5 steals, 1 block.
Ant: 86 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, 6 steals, 1 block.
LeBron: 49 points, 21 rebounds, 17 assists, 6 steals, 2 blocks.
Reaves: 80 points, 7 rebounds, 19 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks.
Luka hasn’t been taking that step back three on the left side as close to that corner as he had in the past, I wonder if it’s just a coincidence or a conscious change.
Oh, the Lakers start a back-to-back tonight? Interesting.
I wonder if they prioritize getting the Portland win, then sit one of Luka or AR tomorrow against the Clippers and potentially drop that one.
Either way, I’m excited to see how they approach these two games. We’ll learn a little more about this team’s mentality.
I’ve seen this point made a few times so I’d like to just go over my thought process. Age isn’t really what I’m basing this on. It’s how the coaching and training staff have handled these situations.
After Luka arrived in 2024–25, the Lakers had 8 back-to-backs. He missed 3 second nights, AR missed 1. Last season, they had 14. Luka missed 5 second nights, AR missed 6.
Those weren’t all scheduled rest days, but injury management has been part of their approach. Regardless of age, the staff has shown they’ll hold guys out when they feel it’s necessary.
That doesn’t mean either will sit tomorrow, but suggesting it’s possible isn’t exactly coming out of nowhere lmaoo
When does the schedule really get tougher? The only teams I was seriously concerned about were OKC, San Antonio, Detroit, Houston and maybe a healthy Philly.
OKC just lost two of its best players, including key defensive options against Luka/AR, and another of those Western teams appears to be working through some ego issues internally.
Everyone else I had moderate concerns about either feels manageable based on how the Lakers have competed against them, like Minnesota and New York, or has looked flat out bad so far, like Indiana, Golden State, Denver and Miami.
I understand travel, back to backs and fatigue can make any stretch difficult. But looking at the actual matchups, where’s the “holy shit, this schedule is ridiculous” stretch people keep pointing toward?

c’mon man…actin like these are 30 something vets with load mgt. only guy who maybe is out is thybulle and will be interesting to see grimes there in that spot if so.
Damn, he was the Lakers 6th man with his terrible off ball defense and lack of awareness for back cuts. Sigh.
The Lakers bench is gonna be huge tonight. If Portland does what I think they do defensively and blitze Luka and uses Camara/Jrue to deny AR the ball, those guys need to be ready to carry some of the offense throughout the game.
Luka and AR might need time to figure out where the openings are, and the bench can’t let the offense stall while they work through it.
The best news they could have gotten.
Utah Jazz star Jaren Jackson Jr. has sustained a torn MCL in his right knee and will be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks, sources tell me and @BannedMacMahon. Jackson will not require surgery.
There was a time LeBron could make a shot through contact, get no whistle, hit the floor, get up, argue with the ref, and still get back in time for a chase down block.
Just makes me sad knowing we’ll never see that version of him again. Father Time is undefeated.
