Happy husband and father. Trying to make the world a teeny bit better each day with my family and friends. Teaching people to love the new era of computing.

I haven't tweeted much about it, but I am running a part-time, 6 week program this summer at Fractal to help professionals master AI agents. It's based on everything I learned from training ~100 engineers over the last 2 years. Check to see if your employer will pay for it :)

if you had to give a breakdown, what % of your "life energy" goes to the following categories in your life? - sex - money - your relationships - your "purpose" - waste - other

for me it's like: sex: 0% money: 15% relationships: 25% purpose: 20% waste: 20% other: 20% (mostly this goes to random curiosity) but I get compounding effects, because I try to make the categories overlap as much as possible

oh, i realize now that i was going for with the categories. It was like a maslow's hierarchy question -- I should have just used his hierarchy instead of making my own categories, but I didn't put that together until this morning.

If you truly *love* American cities, you MUST support strict enforcement of laws against anti-social behavior. Paying bus fares, red light cameras, camping on sidewalks, smoking on trains, off-leash dogs, etc etc If people want to do whatever they want, that’s FINE in the suburbs or the country on your own land. But it, fundamentally, cannot work in our densest places where people all have to co-operate in proximity. If we do not, it means cities will continue to be primarily for those able to avoid the annoyances ... the wealthy and/or child-free.
If we don’t change this … in 40 years we will look back on allowing dogs in downtowns the same way we look at cars: As a terrible mistake for how it molded dense urban environment for the benefit of a few ... by not properly pricing in public costs of the "free rider" dog owners and by changing the entire culture to accommodate them. My fear is by then (like with cars today) there will be too many ppl accustomed to the private benefits and impunity of living downtown with their dogs so we're only able to make marginal changes And that negative downstream effects (fewer kids, playgrounds, dirty sidewalks, dog attacks) will be baked in

I wonder how much money I could save Americans every year by just like... campaigning for people to stop wasting money on overpriced mattresses and cars. What else is like this? Houses? Degrees? Americans are so rich and finance everything, but it's mostly junk man.

I don't mean to be... grumpy? or anti-human? but am I the only one happy and excited to share the universe with other kinds of intelligence? Or... curious and interested to meet an entity who is vastly more capable and intelligent than me? I'm not anti-safety, it's just cool!

Is "living in a cooler universe" worth the price of "maybe in the cooler universe, my species goes extinct"? No, probably not. But if I have to live in the cooler universe anyway, I'm going to be really excited about the cool parts, like superintelligent AI and alien minds.

I need 1password to build me a feature that systematically rotates my passwords every month, and sends the updates passwords securely to all the services I'm signed up for. Security just can't be a wild west like this anymore, we need secure protocols

this is cyclical, by the way. I encourage you to play long games, so you can compound something forever. One such thing you can compound is 'career capital' (what gabriel calls 'status'), which is, like regular capital, non-zero-sum by nature. It is not a ranking.
people need to status max so much more high status people saying "chasing status is bad" is such an effective way of keeping everyone below them literally the only reason why you care about a person you have not met is because they've done something publicly approved rant:

A country or society can, for instance, run out of career capital and fall into dark ages. Similarly, a country can accumulate tons of career capital and launch itself into a golden age. San Francisco and New York City have FAR more career capital than other cities.

my most schizo political theory is that elite overproduction and ennui, and intra-elite competition, are leading to an externalized sense of depression and pessimism, whereby we need to continuously raise taxes for welfare for [other people who are not me] until I am happy.

A lot of this started on the left, because they have this extended idea of family (socialism/communism), where the family and the state should merge together until everyone feels loved and supported by their state. But I notice that it has caught on among the new right, as well

I think there are good instincts here. We should help people, and we should create the conditions for economic growth and flourishing. We should secure the blessings of liberty for everyone. But also, it's suspicious when the person who is offering help is not happy.

you, too, could be demoing production software that you built during your first week at @fractaltechnyc if you join our next Accelerator program, starting November 7th! If you have ever thought "wow there are all these things I wish I could do with AI", then sign up now!
Tonight I demoed my AI event ROI capture tool at @stripe with our @VCPlatform NYC crew. I built this in my first week at @fractaltechnyc during summer bootcamp and over the weeks I realized how much fun it is demoing things! I love it so much, makes me want to build more things

Is there a cheap way to get subsidized credits for messing around with AI videos? They're very expensive right now, expensive enough that it's hard to just throw credits at the problem.

extremely cool initiative
Intelligence is an awful thing to WASTE! 20% of us max our AI plans every week, a huge waste of intelligence! What if we could pool that expiring intelligence & point the swarm at projects aimed at building the world of abundance. A tutor for every child, Cures for rare diseases, Cheap, abundant energy? 1/20
