A giant of the Mara has fallen.
Fred, an iconic Mara Tusker, was found dead today of natural causes. Well into his fifth decade, Fred served as a symbol of the success @KWSKenya and Mara Elephant Project achieved in combatting ivory poaching over the last 15 years.
Fred’s counterparts didn’t live to see old age. How lucky we are that he did.
Collared since 2013, his tracking informed an approach that other Tuskers across Kenya benefited from. Even in death, Fred is the emblem for the Maasai Mara’s magic; thriving despite the challenges and contributing to a brighter future.
He will be missed, but what a life well lived.
We will be remembering Fred in the coming days. Stay tuned for more opportunities to join us in celebrating the life of this gentle giant.

The same way you don't want to be married is the same way others want to be married. And they will want spaces that will 'nurture' and 'show them how'(sic). Kila mtu aende kwa space inampea comfort

The Kenyan government has shadow-banned my social media accounts because I am running against Ruto. I have a following of about 3.5 million across all my platforms, but the Communications Authority of Kenya and the National intelligence Service have found ways to block my posts from reaching my followers.
If I were not a threat, they would not have bothered.
Kenyans who speak out on important national issues are facing similar bans.
The Ruto regime has suppressed the hashtag Ruto Must Go.
You rarely see posts with #RutoMustGo. Even the politicians who pay bloggers to post their every move are not using that hashtag. They know the algorithm will suppress it.
The 2027 election will be decided by the ability of candidates to reach voters directly on their phones through social media and WhatsApp. In 2024, we mobilised Kenyans in 35 counties to hold protests and reject the Finance Bill. We did that after holding only one physical planning meeting. Just one.
That is why the state desperately tried to pin terrorism charges on me, and when that failed, they charged me with possession of ammunition and tear gas.
That is the power of organising we the people and I as the People’s President have at the click of a button.
That is the power of social media. It penetrates deeper and further among my target audience than political rallies or traditional media. A ballot revolution is only possible if we can reach Kenyans on their phones, not through a biased media or noisy rallies. The silent majority, the 7.8 million Kenyans who refused to vote in 2022 are going to vote this time, and a ballot revolution will send Ruto home.
Ruto is desperately trying to pull another Cambridge Analytica-style operation, just as they did in 2017. In 2017, UhuruTo’s team paid six million dollars to Cambridge Anayltica to run misinformation ads targeting Raila Odinga as a devil worshipper, a practitioner of witchcraft, and a lord of poverty.
The same man Uhuru and Ruto are now praising was character-assassinated over and over by those two. It is even possible that the two conspired to ensure he “lost” in 2022. That is why most of Raila’s inner circle are today’s Ruto praise-and-worship members.
They betrayed Raila while he was alive.
When the character assassinations failed, they tortured and murdered IEBC IT manager Chris Msando and used his logins to rig the election. To muddy the waters, UhuruTo’s killer squad murdered a 21-year-old medical student, Carol Ngumbu, and placed her body alongside Msando’s, trying to make it look like a sex crime rather than the theft of an election. Kenyans were not fooled.
After the August 2017 presidential election was rigged, the raging bully Internal Security Minister Fred Matiang’i unleashed the police on Raila Odinga’s supporters. I was hit by a teargas canister while leading a protest demanding that the government stop killing Raila’s supporters.
During that period, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights documented 94 deaths, 201 cases of sexual violence, and more than 300 injuries. They stole an election. They murdered opposition supporters. That is a past Kenyans cannot afford to overlook.
As the person who blew the whistle on River Yala and saw human bodies tied in gunny bags floating and rotting in Siaya, I refuse to overlook such an inhumane and barbaric past.
Do not be surprised if Ruto tries the same in 2027. Members of Parliament were bribed yesterday to pass a bill that removed the requirement for the IEBC to livestream polling-station results. Ruto is laying the foundation to steal the elections.
Ruto might even go further and do exactly what Flávio Bolsonaro did in Brazil. Bolsonaro, who enjoys strong support from America’s right wing, conspired with Meta and, without any explanation, disabled President Lula’s Instagram and Facebook profiles from running ads just ten days before the Brazilian election.
Lula was forced to file formal complaints in court and secure an order compelling Meta to stop restricting the reach of his content, treat both campaigns equally, and correct the algorithmic and AI biases that appeared to favour Bolsonaro.
I would like to know how I can punch Ruto out of this ban and kick him out of State House. Talk to me.
I’ve reported on Ebola for over a decade (& health for over 20 yrs) so I’m not usually surprised to hear disparate theories about disease outbreaks. But recent posts by a number of Kenyan thought leaders have left me dumbfounded. Here’s Dr Wandia Njoya, a university lecturer:
Let's be clear: Ebola did not "spread" to Kenya. The US and Kenya governments BROUGHT Ebola to Kenya, the US out of racist contempt for Africans, and Kenya out of twisted desire to prove to massa that it can meet "international standards" of disease response, and out of its evil greed for US dollars.

As @LindaMwananchi_ team, we forgive the disgraceful conduct by DIG Gilbert Masengeli and Lagat at Opicho’s funeral in Kitale today. We still got to speak to the people. I know many in public service are living in fear because we have a very petty regime in power. Being seen to “allow” opposition leaders too much leeway can end careers. My assurance is that in 10 months you will experience true freedom.

Fun fact - through their research, KALRO determined that some varities of our indigenous avocados are resistant to persea mite. Have they published or implemented their findings? No. They are completely underfunded and their existing budgets were slashed

I kept my passes from KQ flights 202 and 203 to and fro Mumbai on 15/16 October 2025. I couldn’t tell you what the toughest part of the day was, receiving the news in the morning or taking that flight to Mumbai. But I digress. I want to say Ahsante sana to some key people who made everything possible in very difficult circumstances.
1. The Indian High Commission in Nairobi and the Indian Government. I don’t know how many rules of international travel were bent to make that flight happen. Ahsante sana.
2. @KenyaAirways management and the flight crew led by Capt. Saviemaria Ondego. Absolute class. Bwana on the way back we thought our tears had dried then she hit us with that call change to RAO001 when we entered our airspace. Wacha tu. God bless.
3. The regular passengers on those two flights. Many were bumped off. Heavy seat changes to accommodate the delegation. Long delays especially on flight 202. Many had no idea what was happening until we were airbone and the captain made the announcement. Apologies for the inconveniences on that day, but you were very gracious. God bless.
4. The @kdfinfo . Bwana for the honor extended to Baba, we his people will forever be grateful. Salute🫡
