I encountered an odd Mandela effect, apparently the Soviet union’s flag was red and not green (as depicted in the first picture) and was founded by a Vladimir Lenin and not Vladimir Greenin (as depicted in the second picture)

one of the first things with dementia is your mask starts slipping. joe biden was masking his awkwardness and stutter, trump was masking his burning to desire to fuck the hot men from central casting

It's infuriating that this wasn't the normalized approach for like 5-10 yrs.
Just forced to watch the press/pundits pretend to take incoherent "policies" seriously, even auto-paraphrasing Trump remarks as if we dont already know he's clueless and winging it. ENOUGH. FINALLY.
Abdul El-Sayed: “We are being actively bullied by the dumbest people in the room. Donald Trump is an idiot. He has one genius which is getting attention. Because his dad never gave him enough, because he was a nepo baby, he craved attention and used the bullying tactics to get it. But the man is an idiot. Just a fool”

I think part of it is that every Democrat's greatest aspiration, not just the party or its electeds, EVERY Democrat's greatest dream of conquest, is Blexas.
It's like going to the moon and O'Rourke was the Democratic John Glenn.

You foods. You oh absolutely morons. Modern HP Lovecraft would be a Reddit supermod and cook up some batshit bespoke ideology that’s impossible to express with fewer than eleven adjectives.

This is why games like battlefield don’t have complete destruction because every team would just be knocking down every building to deny the other a vantage point
This is also why every building in Gaza has been flattened, to deny them an advantage

Looks like a sign Ukrainian textbooks of 2000s would use for section "Interesting to know", which, of course, was of no interest to any student

Most leftists are so annoying. They ask why politicians care about GDP and maintaining a healthy budget instead of just spending an infinite amount of money on welfare. They think conservatives are evil for dealing with the real state and that I am one too for pointing this out

It sounds like you spend too long on Twitter, to be honest. People in the real world don’t obsess over this stuff, nor get their pleasure from it, including in former Soviet occupied countries. People are more complex, more interesting, and focused on their own futures. But history is still important and it’s perfectly normal and commendable to share experiences of history in order to push back on extremist ideologies and maintain the kind of democratic norms that we are all lucky to live with today. Get offline and meet real people.

you know the tsardom gave scholarships to people like chekhov, whose grandfather was a serf, and chekhov became a doctor and a writer? your standard is so incredibly low, the tsardom reaches it

Like all conventional writing advice this is only helpful for low-level students and bad if codified as a rule. There are plenty of good reasons you might prefer to use the longer, fancier word in a given context: for rhythm, register, phonetic texture, etc.
