Letter to my fellow Coloradans: On the eve of the 2024 election, Coloradans find themselves living in a state under near Democratic supremacy. Democrats control all statewide offices. All seven Colorado Supreme Court justices were appointed by Democratic governors. In fact, for the past 49 years, Colorado has only had 1 Republican governor. Democrats have a supermajority in the Colorado House and a near supermajority in the Colorado Senate. Democrats have five of eight Colorado congressional seats. The U.S. President is a Democrat, and Democrats control the U.S. Senate. Consider, as well, the overwhelming numbers of progressives in control of the federal bureaucracy, Hollywood, academia, media, and tech. With all the Democratic control, we are far from living in a utopian paradise. As a Colorado native, I know our beautiful Centennial state is stalling. Businesses are leaving Denver, the cost of living is skyrocketing, and crime is overwhelming. Everything is more expensive, and nothing is better. We are less free, less secure, more burdened. Democrats are spending more money than at any point in our state's history, outpacing inflation, yet our most essential services, like road quality and policing, are lagging. What is improving with all this spending? Colorado’s Western values of liberty, risk, shared hardship, strong families, and perseverance forged our great state. There is no place like Colorado, from the Rocky Mountains to the sweeping plains, rushing rivers, and world-class ski resorts. But the descent into deep blue politics threatens it all. Businesses can’t afford Denver. Ranchers can’t afford the wolves. Many of us can’t afford to ski anymore. Everything is more expensive, the government takes in more money, and nothing is better. It’s time to free up our industries. It’s time to put the bad guys behind bars. It’s time to put more money in the pockets of Coloradans, not government coffers. It’s time to break up the blue monopoly. It’s time to vote Republican and unleash the Western spirit. If anything, a divided government will at least push back on our political leaders. Our state is so driven by progressive special interests that the voice of the people is lost. For most of history, the people have had no voice in government. Kings, queens, caesars did as they pleased. A government of the people, by the people, and for the people is incredibly rare.
