Uh-oh. We've been getting E30 fuel in Bangalore, and not E20.
So, the Karnataka Govt tested samples across 63 oil retailers including both state-owned (IOC, HPCL, BPCL) and private retailers (Shell, Nayara)
* IOCL: 31.2%+
* HPCL: 30.5%
* BPCL: 26.5%
* Nayara: 26.1%
* Shell: 25.5%
IOC had a whopping 31 % ethanol. Shell had over 25 %.
This is BLATANT cheating!
1. We're not only paying more for inferior fuel but also getting lower mileage.
2. Older vehicles (classic cars and motorcycles) are getting damaged due to this.
What a terrible state of affairs @HardeepSPuri, @nitin_gadkari
The petroleum minister must be sacked. We've had enough!

Let it go...! 😇
How do I heal, how do I find my solace.
And inside me someone whispers, let it go!
No matter how much you are hurt, never let it show,
Don’t waste your tears for those who are not worth it.
Prove you mettle, bear it with grin, get up after every blow,
For no one else, but for yourself, let it go!

India is planning to remove LTCG tax for FIIs and keep 12.5% tax for retail investors who have been supporting markets with their SIPs
Retail investors are also paying 20% TCS to the government on investments of more than ₹10 lakhs in foreign equities
This is a reminder for everyone that the finance lobby doesn't really care about your wealth building and retirement corpus
You are allowed to participate in the markets primarily to facilitate tax collection through unethical STT, high STCG, and a racist LTCG soon
They told us to “go paperless to save the planet” and “go digital to save the trees.” Now we’re destroying 250,000 trees, wasting millions of gallons of water and wrecking ecosystems to build data centers that will damage the planet more than paper ever did.

Dear GOVT / CAQM,
YOU sold BS-IV cars till 31st March 2020.
YOU took 15-year road tax upfront.
YOU certify the same car as fit every year with PUC & Fitness.
Road tax = PAID to YOU.
Toll & fuel cess = PAID to YOU daily.
Yet YOU ban my own paid-up, legally fit asset every winter to hide YOUR failure - YOUR unpaved shoulders, YOUR road dust, YOUR construction dust, YOUR municipal waste fires.
Don't punish my compliance to mask YOUR incompetence.
A whopping 87% residents of Delhi NCR cities are against the restriction imposed on pre BS-VI vehicles by Delhi.
Remember, it is much easy to inconvenience tax paying citizens than to act on other critical causes driving up AQI. The net result will be for all to see soon!

Dhurandhar was made for money and, in my view, preaches hate. The Friendship Files was made to expose the truth, challenge the powerful, and inspire accountability.
One was driven by profit. The other by love for the country.
There’s a world of difference.

Akash Prakash has invested in Indian equities for over 30 years. In today's Business Standard he writes that, for the first time, global allocators are asking him whether India needs a dedicated allocation at all.
India's weight in the MSCI Emerging Markets index has fallen from 21% in September 2024 to about 10%. TSMC alone now carries a weight 50% larger than the whole of India.
Since that peak, he puts Indian equities down about 25% in dollar terms while EM indices are up about 50%.
He still reads this as a contrarian signal and expects the tide to turn.
Global funds are asking whether India deserves its own bucket.
Most Indian investors have never asked that question the other way. For them, India is the whole portfolio.

Your number plate can reveal your full name, address and insurance details to anyone with ₹29 and an app.
Our RTIs found that NIC issued 25,000+ private credentials to query VAHAN and eChallan since January 2024, leading to 17 million private lookups. On October 1, private data sharing was quietly switched off with no public notice. Meanwhile, the logs that could prove misuse are set to expire.
We’ve filed first appeals demanding accountability and preservation of those logs.

Absolutely!
Utterly shameful that well kept vehicles have to be scrapped because some clown decided to use a hammer instead a scalpel.
No other country has the insane regulation to scrap vehicles after 10 or 15 years that India has in Delhi NCR. It's nothing short of madness, in a country where people use their vehicles for decades; and many can't afford the switch.
It's also an environemental disaster in terms of the energy, material, mining and plastic used to create a new vehicle.
Can you believe that this crazy resolution was passed by the farce which calls its "National Green Tribunal" but was instead meant as a power and reward system for crony FCRA NGOs.

“The World Health Organization” now states on its website:
“COVID-19 vaccination can cause multiple sclerosis due to cross-reactive CD4+ T cells that recognize the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and myelin peptides.”
In other words, your own immune system destroys the nerve pathways and then attacks your brain and spinal cord.
This data was available during the lockdowns but was labeled as a “conspiracy theory” and censored by social media.

I think we have plenty of such cases in India as well. 🙄
Governments keep telling us ID checks will make the internet safer. Here is what an ID check actually did for a woman in Pennsylvania.
Cash App demanded Social Security numbers to stop fraud. Hers leaked in a data breach, a scammer opened an account with it, and the police arrested her for his crime. She spent three nights in jail. Cash App now refuses to show her the account because she can’t prove it’s hers, which is exactly what she has been telling them.
Every ID check builds another vault of stolen identities waiting to happen. The more of them we’re forced through, the easier fraud gets, and the people paying for it are the ones who did everything they were told.

If you pay 42% tax in Germany and lose your job the government provide around 60% of your previous net salary in unemployment benefits and help you find a new job.
But if you pay 30% tax in India that was copied 90% from the UK tax law, what will you get.?
NOTHING.

After leaving my CISO role a few years ago, I audited banks, a major conglomerate, government departments and other organisations in India. I found critical gaps. Many challenged my findings with the same argument: “We have been audited for years with zero observations.” One example explains the problem. A requirement called for active monitoring to identify newly created data for classification. The previous auditor marked it compliant because the organisation had Active Directory. Having Active Directory does not demonstrate that new data is being discovered and classified. The auditor had just two years of experience. The organisation’s representative also lacked the experience to understand the requirement. Neither understood what needed to be tested, yet the control passed. This is not an argument against junior professionals. It is a question of who assigns the work, supervises it and takes responsibility for the conclusion. These audits assess baseline security, not advanced defences. When even the baseline is misunderstood, years of clean reports can build a dangerous false sense of security. AI-assisted attacks make that complacency even more worrying. I fear more breaches and ransomware incidents if we keep treating previous audit results as grounds to reject new evidence. Zero observations should invite scrutiny, not end it. I examine this problem in my paper, The Illusion of Competence: ssrn.com/abstract=6942398
