💯 ‘largest theft of labor in human history.’ Make Big Tech pay—so our communities can finally thrive.
Anthropic's S1 reveals that the company considers copyright law a massive risk. It says: "If we cannot rely on the fair use doctrine to access copyrighted work for training our models, we may be required to pay significant fees to obtain a license to such training data or our ability to further develop our models [...] and distribute models trained on such data at issue could be adversely affected." Adverse rulings "could require us to retrain affected models from scratch at substantial cost." It notes that the copyright questions around AI training have not been resolved in the US, and that other countries don't even have 'fair use'. There is hope yet.

A set of viral claims suggests that Donald Trump and Elon Musk rigged the 2024 election, and have similar designs on the current midterms. We reviewed these claims and provided contexts to why rigging is unlikely. But — the best defense is strong turnout. election2026.america2.news/c…

In REJECTING the Trump DOJ's request to sideline 20,000 California ballots, Judge David O. Carter calls it out as part of "a broad, ongoing pattern of attempted election interference by federal officials." Doc buff.ly/hSDF7SA

Frontier LLMs have no moat, but at the same time they can't stop spending because losing their lead means the money stops. Basically they're building stairs to nowhere hoping nobody notices, while the free models are 5 feet behind climbing what has been built Spot on @pkedrosky
The reason frontier LLMs will never be profitable is because the minute they stop spending, the free models catch up. You're in a constant loop of increased spending to stay ahead, while everyone behind you catches up at a fraction of the cost by using your model. LLMs are just commodity with no moat.

Anthropic would not be designed any differently if it were a psyop engineered by the Mag 7 to launch a massive newborn public company on the hook for long-term guaranteed contracts that will hang off of it like leeches until it dies, limping, drained

🦔Bloomberg talked to more than 30 bankers and money managers who finance AI data centers, and all of them said raising money has gotten much harder in just a few months. At least 18 data center deals now have to pay lenders more than 10% a year. The cost of insuring Oracle, SpaceX and Meta debt against default hit records last week. My Take For two years the hard limit on AI was physical, mostly power and grid connections. Now money is short too. Banks are close to the most they’ll lend to this sector, and some insurers that take on part of the risk say they’re already full. Some tenants can walk away if a data center opens 90 to 180 days late, and Oracle already filed a force majeure notice to put off payments on a delayed site in New Mexico. Lenders thought a big tech tenant guaranteed the payments, and in some deals a construction delay is enough to undo that. The biggest tech companies will still get loans because lenders trust their balance sheets. The smaller GPU rental companies won’t. Expect more AI firms to sell stock for cash instead, which shrinks every existing shareholder’s slice. Chipmakers that promised to back their customers’ debt take on more of the risk, and Nvidia’s default insurance hit a record too. New deals at these higher rates also push down the price of older AI bonds, which bond funds and insurers hold for a lot of people’s retirement. Hedgie🤗

This is all a foundation for denying the election results. This will happen across the country, and we need to be ready. Republicans will clearly stop at nothing to hold onto power, the will of the people be damned.

If you're a business or artist with intellectual property, watch the clock. Meta is 23 days from claiming right to scrape your site to develop its AI. Your consent? Apparently unnecessary. All it takes is use of Meta's services. And Meta's outreach maps to delay, deny, deflect.
As Nieman Lab first reported (and followed up Saturday after Meta announced a revision), Meta is unilaterally updating its commercial terms next week in a manner that might claim sweeping rights over intellectual property across the open web. Significant concerns remain. 1/3
